I won't be staying up. The result's a foregone conclusion (it usually is; the Brexit referendum was the only real nail-biter), and I have been disenfranchised anyway. I live in Gloucester, not far from the centre, but I am not allowed, courtesy of the c***s at the Electoral Commission, to vote for the MP of my city. I live miles away from Tewkesbury, have no interest in Tewkesbury, and even less interest into what jobsworth gets to represent Tewkesbury; they won't be representing me.
My ballot paper will be listed as 'spoilt' - but it won't be. It will be a genuine protest vote (I suspect there will be an embarrassing number if ever they publish the reasons for a number of 'spoilt' papers). There's a whole lot of disenfranchised people in Gloucester - even the candidates (to become MP for Tewkesbury) are apologising, and hoping disenfranchised Gloucester people will vote for them anyway.
A few years ago, the prats at the electoral commission thought up a wheeze whereby Gloucester Cathedral (for electoral boundary purposes) should be moved to the Forest of Dean; I wrote a song about that, which always went down a storm whenever I played it in these parts. I can't claim the credit, but the idea was scrapped. Unfortunately, they then decided to hive off another integral, but less high profile, part of Gloucester to be sacrificed to their (unwanted by anyone else) dream of having every electorate, regardless of local ties and affiliations, having exactly the same number of voters.
If ever there was a case of, 'if it ain't broke, don't mend it'........................... still, I expect a few people, in the right place at the right time, and knowing a few of the right people, are happy (and on to a good little earner).

Off on summer holiday on Friday, so thank god will miss it all! Just hope I can get back in to the country when returning!

I intend to go and vote at 9-45pm. That way I’ll get back home just before 10 when the exit poll is announced, and it’ll be as if they were waiting for me to cast my ballot and have an instant effect on democracy.
I then intend to be up until the early hours watching dozens of tories that I’ve grown to hate over the last 5 years, or longer, lose their massive majorities.

I try to be an even handed, peaceable sort of chap but this government has me beaten. They give me The Rage. I’ve spent years planning my election night festivities but now that it’s finally here… I’ll be out of the country.
Postal vote sent. Hoping to see Woking turn not blue for the first time ever and I shall be in Costa Rica as it all unfolds.
Exit poll drops at 15:00 local time. Hopefully dinner should be jovial and, if this is to be believed, the deal will be sealed at about 21:00. More beers, por favor!

Long day/evening standing around a polling station first so hoping I‘ll stay the course because there would be no greater satisfaction than seeing Sunak, Truss and the other big Tories scrunch up their faces in rictus smiles and claim it was a ”better night than expected” for them, while Labour HQs across the Country celebrate a landslide victory.
Exit Polls at 10pm will provide a general picture of how the Country has voted, so either way, given the current predictions, we’ll probably have a pretty good idea who the next party in government will be by then.

Being new to the constituency, can any Horshamites tell me what sort of time I can expect the result? Is it an early or late one?

As a former Horshamite, I always look out for it and seem to remember it usually being around 1-3am. It has however always been a fairly large Tory win. The fact that it's going to be close this year, with the Lib Dems having a very realistic chance of edging the tories out, might mean that the count takes a bit longer than usual.

Is there a good list of target seats for each of the parties? Massive nerd that I am, I like ticking them off when the results come in. The Wiki one is decent, but only goes up to 150 for Labour. It might actually need to go beyond that - any others out there?

C4 are running overnight with Krishna GM , Alastair Campbell, Rory Stewart, Jon Sopel and Emily Maitlis plus other of course...won't physically be able to do the overnighter but will set my alarm for 5 ish to pick up a couple of hours worth before off to babysitting.
