[Football] Frank Lampards Coventry ?

Lampard was my choice for England manager. Average manager, perhaps, but half the battle is getting a team that likes you and will play for you. He has that in spades. I think he would have done as well as anyone. He did okay in his first season at Chelsea and wasn't given much of a chance to remedy a bad run in the second. Everton, well that was a basket case.

Chelsea is just not a team to have on your CV. Cursed.

The problem with taking the wrong job at the wrong time four times in a row means its a bit hard to evaluate him as a manager.

I like Frank, I really do. If he was German or Spanish or Italian he would have been credited with a good job at Chelsea (first time), an okay job at Derby and a quite exceptional achievement at Coventry.

I actually think being English has held him back a bit so would love to see him progress well at Coventry.

Watched the first 15 minutes of their Stoke game and their defending was reminiscent of our thumping of Everton. Championship is probably his level as he has looked way out of his depth in the PL.

Yep, he's been unfairly lumped in with Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard - who are of course both shit at management.

The most enjoyable/hilarious part of Lampard's managerial career was the second leg of Derby's Championship play-offs with Leeds. Leeds already spent the entire post match at Pride Park singing "stop crying Frank Lampard" thinking the job was done - and didn't like it much when he threw it back at them at Elland Road after his side destroyed Leeds 4-2 and went to Wembley instead of them.

Would be lovely to see Leeds f*ck it up against Coventry this time round.

Contrary to the rest of you, I've never liked Lampard and I think he deserved to be mocked after posting a win percentage of NINE per cent during his last stint at Chelsea. His record at Everton was better, at 27%, but that's still pretty poor (for context, Hyypia won 23% of his games managing us, so that's the kind of territory we're in).

But I've gotta hand it to him, he's getting the job done at Coventry, a proper club whose fans have been through the wringer over the last decade or two in a way that should be sadly familiar to all Brighton fans. I hope he gets them over the line.

Any Chelsea manager who has a win percentage of under 25 needs to be applauded. I loved his 2nd stint at Chelsea (like I loved Shearer managing Newcastle)

I was one of the naysayers regarding the likes of Frank and Wayne getting jobs on the back of their name rather than any managerial record, both have at best, kept teams at the same level , however I have been proved wrong regarding Frank. What he has done at Coventry has been outstanding, and he will have become a much better coach/manager for the experience of taking a struggling team and improving them

I was born there so its my 'second team' , regards Frank never had an issue with him. A victim of his own success as a footballer i.e. everyone wants him as a manager because he was a good footballer and good footballer equals good manager ( not).

Yes, I was taken to that match on my birthday in 1980. I was in the West Stand. One wag shouting that Cov's performance that day was matching the colour of their kit. I think it was a draw in the end mind.

This. Be funny if Leeds end up in play offs and Coventry do them! I like Frank and Coventry and hope they can get up. Thought they were very unlucky not to get to cup final last season and it'll be another Premier league game within an hour of us together to next season
