What are you trying to say!? His scoring record just doesn't stand up....

Inter 87 league apps 57 goals
Barca 29 apps 16 goals
AC Milan 61 apps 42 goals
PSG 122 apps 113 goals

:moo:

I really hope so!!!!!!!
I want to see this beast week in and week out. Will he cause havoc and score a shedload or will he get found out at this "level"?
If it happens, my money is on him scoring 20+in the PL.

True, true.... but Ryan Harley scored a decent free kick once..... not for one second putting Zlatan and Harley in the same bracket.

People will base an opinion on a player from what they have seen, Zlatan is well hyped, but hasn't done it against English clubs in the Champions league, that is why people here don't have a high opinion of him, it's what they have seen.

If he does join Man Utd I have no doubt he will get 17-20 goals next season, but will he get them against the teams that matter, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs? Or will he fill his boots against Burnley, Boro, West Brom and Sunderland?

I base my opinion on the fact I've seen him score the best goal I have ever seen, and I also base my opinion on his stats, which are:

Malmo - 40/16
Ajax - 74/35
Juve 70/23
Inter - 88/57
Barca - 29/16
Milan - 61/42
PSG - 122/113
Sweden - 112/62

...phenomenal. All at the top level.

He's on the downslope of his career now of course, but it'd be fun to see him end it here. And I think you could hang your hat on 20 goals next season if he joins Man U.

Still a very fit player. Still a good couple of years at the highest level in him. Would be an outstanding signing.

In fairness, he did score probably the greatest goal of all time against England a couple of years ago.

Are you saying greatest rather than luckiest goals I think it was the latter he saw the keeper off of his line and just hit it in the direction of the goal as is natural for a striker. I dont like those hit and hope goals but granted they look good when they go in.

Just aiming in the general direction of the goal and hoping. I said the same at the time when people were going into raptures about it. He had no idea it was going to go in, just hoped.

And Wilson....

But he hasn't played Stoke, West Brom, Watford and Crystal Palace has he? He could score 20 goals just against the bottom 10 in the premier league, just because he hasn't scored many against our best teams doesn't mean he wont absolutely tear apart the rest of the premier league.

Aren't all shots just kicks aimed in the direction of the goal?

I bet he will, but Man Utd wont win the league by smashing the bottom 10 clubs, but not beating the top 6.

Players always HOPE the ball is going to go in. Had Knockaerts free kick v Sheff Weds found the net instead of hitting the inside of the post and coming out, would that just have been luck ?

Ibrahimovich could have brought the ball down, turned and tried to chip the keeper, or find a team mate, or just try a shot. Instead, he instantly executed the most audacious overhead kick volley from a MILE out, and it flew in. He could try it a hundred times more and never pull that off again, but it doesn't mean he got lucky, because he meant to do it. I've never seen a goal remotely like it before or since. It was pure genius as far as I'm concerned.

I liked it almost as much as you. Not sure if I prefer it to Van Persie's header against Spain though.

Both of those are not so much goals, as events. It was like my sofa had an ejector seat when they went in.

Go along with that. And going back on my last post, I couldn't say which is better. As well as being events, and activating ejector seats, jaws gravitated downwards at a speed I thought I was incapable of summoning up.

The difference being Knockhaert aimed for that spot as opposed to Ibramovich he just hit it over his head and had no real idea where it was going had he done as you suggested that would have been a good goal not a lucky one. As you said he could try it 100 times and not be so lucky as to score again.
