Lets be honest, he's hardly set the world alight in either

1. England U 21 games when he looked very average
2. Spurs - when he did play looked very average
3. West Ham - after a promising start soon looked very average

I think he will hardly to inundated with offers or people falling over themselves to sign him up.

His market value is now £ 500 000 max and he needs to be realistic about his wage potential.

Leicester City on £ 4k a week is my best guess.

I agree with you Gareth. How people could put Bobby in the same league as Peter Ward is beyond me!

He was a great player for us in the lower Two divisons. I admit he is low on confidence. I wouldn't be surprised if his next club was Reading!

I believe he was on £5K a week at the Albion!

He's only young and he's got a good few years in him yet. There will be more good times and I believe he'll play for us again (but probably not yet). Ok, he's having a rough spell but he will have made a shedload of cash from the last 12 months so that might help!

Read it as you will...

West Ham player of the year Matthew Etherington is set for a shock move to Fulham after failing to win a new upton park contract.

The former Tottenham star was stunned when boss Alan Pardew told him that cash problems after defeat by Crystal Palace in the Division One play-off final ruled out a fresh deal.

Nothing there that says 'Release'

Many players renegotiate their contracts at the end of a season even if their contracts are not up.
Basically they have been told their contract stays the same.

Danny Cullip still has a year to run on his contract with us but McGhee mentioned a new deal on Seagulls World (thus I think putting paid to daft Leicester rumours)

If he does come back I hope we get the BZ that loved playing for the Albion-not the imposter who turned out for us for the last three months of our season in Division 1.

Even if this is true (which I doubt) there's one massive stumbling block - Micky Adams.

I'm sure if BZ was looking for a club to resdiscover his form, he wouldn't be able to think of a better place than Leicester where he'd have a manager who really believes in him. And I'm sure that feeling is mutual.

People are bound to say Leicester can't afford him but if that's true then neither could we!

The thought of BZ teaming up with Leon is a mouthwatering prospect. We'd pretty soon be a force to reckon with in Div 1.

Just a shame it's not going to happen.

Leicester are still paying through the nose for players already on their books.

Found out from a Leicester fan on the official message board that Benjamin is on £17K a week and they're stuck with him for another year.

£17K a week for Benjamin? Crazy money. No wonder so many clubs are in such dire financial straits.

Cannot believe people are being so harsh about Bobby's ability. He is going through a confidence crisis, not helped by the shit treatment he got at spurs or by the fact that no matter how well he is playing for West Ham, Pardew takes him off after 60 minutes. If he came back to Brighton he would be ace.

i wonder what % of that we were paying him. obviously thats why leicester loaned him out to us. they must have still been paying him at least 12 grand whilst we picked up the rest of his massive bill.

Maybe we could get him on loan for three months. That would ease the cash burden on West Ham, increase Bobby's confidence and earn us enough points to hopefully stay up

BZ has not proved himself in either the Premiership, not Div 1. He didn't set the world alight for us in Div 1 did he?
I'm not saying he can't do it, but don't be fooled by a player that can score a lot of goals in a good team in Div 2 & 3, but then can't cut it at the next level up.

How many goals did he get in Div 1?
How many games?
How many were from the penalty spot?

I don't remember him getting a lot in open play, against better defenders.

However, I would love hom to come back though.

A bit harsh, he got 14 goals in a struggling side and missed a chuck of the season through injury. The problem was for the last few games he knew he was on his way and did not look that interested. Also he had a habit of only performing against the big sides and Wolves that season.

there was a group of West Ham at my hotel last Saturday down in Newport and they like him and are fully aware that Spurs has damaged his confidence, West Ham IMHO will keep him and next season just watch him go!!
