Youth v Bristol

I went to the game last night, and it was fair to say that we were beaten by a better team. Not forgetting that Bristol City, have a youth academy and therefore play against premiership youth teams week in week out.

We played very well in the first half, and matched a good city side. Sam Gargan hit bar with a fantastic header, he also had are only other real chance of the half when he headed straight at the keeper when well placed.

Going into the second half and the game looked well poised, until Sonny Cobbs gave away a penalty with a needless and reckless challenge. From this point on the Albion crumbled away. James Martin had to come off after being knocked out in a collision with Zac Beda, he had played really well as the heartbeat of the midfield and his loss certainly affected us.

Bristol City then proceeded to score two more goals, the third a particularly well worked breakaway goal created by their lively number 10.

As said in some of the previous posts though, we have to remember that this is a very young side with lots of first years in it. It does not have the quality of lasts years side, but its incredibly unfair to have that comparison levelled against them.

The best albion player was definitely Sam Gargan, who looked a really good prospect. He is a big lad and heads the balls fantastically, however he was very good with the ball at his feet to. His link up play and movement was also good, but he did look a touch lazy.

Out of the other players, I thought James Martin, Kane Louis looked like the most likely to make it. Kane Louis looked technically very good, but did not like the physical side of the game and was constantly bullied out of possession. However he is young and seemed to be playing against older bigger defenders.

Lee Bryant at right back and Ruben French on the left wing looked like week links in the side. Both looked like their game was technically inferior to the other players on the pitch from both sides with their touch constantly letting them down.
