Tough one.

I've got a few beers and a couple of bottles of wine in for today but it's the opening fixture. I'll probably just stick to a drink when England play so things will probably be at a minimum.

Crudités with a lo cal dip for snackage and err.....lite beer (urgh!) I'd ditch beer and go with gin or vodka, get hammered and stay svelte!

Traditionally wasabi peas are my TV football snack of choice. A thoughtful snack, that can’t easily be scoffed, so good for the waistline. Mind you, gallons of accompanying cider not too helpful!

I'm on antibiotics and have to avoid alcohol, plus I'm training in Ipswich for two weeks so it'll be beer in the pub for the England games and tea/water for all the others.

Beer, Rum, Gin, various mixers, Pork Scratchings, Crisps, Giant Pretzels, Humous, various dips. That's Russia vs Saudi sorted.

You're going to get lashed.

Which Saudi would probably approve of.

P
eating while watching sport is very American. Eating while drinking is only borderline acceptable at any time (all this beer and burger and wings nonsense is so culturally alien to me i struggle to fathom it ) but if watching at home then its just cans.

Perhaps some cubes of lard Russian style as the world cup is in Russia, just, just about acceptable.

Are there still antibiotics that you can't drink with, I thought those days were long gone.

Good luck with tracking down a Saudi beer

.. but it's a good idea in principle

I've heard from ex pats that have worked in Saudi that the way forward is to make it yourself. Basically, grapefruit juice, water and honey, and let if ferment.

Might be a bit late for this afternoon though :)

Doxycycline. The effectiveness is reduced so you should avoid alcohol*.
It also does something to your melatonin levels so you cannot go out in the sun without burning very quickly.

I'm currently on holiday in Corfu, which is a f..king hoot given the above.

*I've avoided about a third to a half of all the beer that I'd otherwise drink.
