Derek B was first act on I believe....although that might have been for Run DMC and Public Enemy at The Centre the following year when an embarrassing number farked off after PE leaving a scant audience for the headliners Run DMC.

It isn't cool but I had fun and I was about 11 years old. Showaddywaddy at the Brighton Centre in 1981. The first gig by myself was King Kurt in Portsmouth.

King Kurt in enemy territory, that must have been an eye opener, I hope you took plenty of eggs and flour, I went a few times in my butchers hat, coat and wheelies fresh from the abattoir !!

Did they have the wheel of death and women bouncers on the door ?
