Let's have your favourite tunes of this year so far. Here's a few from me - I may add to the list if I remember more.

Rainbow Arabia - Without You

Signed to the very excellent Kompakt Records, this band are leading the way in the power rock/electronica cross-over that seems to have been the in sound of 2011. And the lead singer is very hot - in a kooky kind of way.

Disco Gnome - Thugfucker

This one could be a marginal 2010 tune but I only heard it this year. Without doubt, the dance track of the year. It has everything going for it except the name of the band and the name of the tune. It's seriously danceable.

Herman Dune - Tell Me Something I Don't Know

This Swede has scored a major hit with this almost lo-fi feel-good song. You'll be singing this for days and the accompanying video starring that bloke from Madmen is THE musical video of the year. This is the short version. Please do check out the full 7 minute version. (Youtube won't let me embed that one)

Rapahael Saadiq - Heart Attack

Ex - of Tony Toni Tone, Saadiq has gone right back to 1973 and borrowed the best bits of Sly Stone with this relentlessly funky tune. The best guitar riff of the year and no mistake.

David Lynch - Good Day Today

I've raved about this song for ages. Lynch proves he is a master at music as well as film. If you like mid-90s dance music of the Moby/Leftfield/Underworld variety then you seriously need to check out his new album.

Just to encourage less-PONCEY others, I still like this despite having posted it MONTHS ago.

The Rapahael Saadiq sounds good, but that's probably because it doesn't sound 'new' :(.

Loving 'Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall' by Coldplay, loving 'Paradise' as well.

'Levels' by Avicii and the song by Pitbull and Ne-Yo 'Everything' for the simple fact it reminds me of Ibiza!

This tune popped up on my iPod on the train into work and is also a fave of mine from this year. DJ Shadow's 'I've Been Trying' from his latest album and EP sees him with a great return to form. I think this album is as strong as anything since Endtroducing and would be a great starter album for anyone wanting to explore his work for the first time. This particular song is more a bluesy love song with a hip hop drum beat to it. Enjoy.

That Maroon 5 track is utter garbage. That whistling bit makes me wanna vomit. Absolute dogshit. On the other hand, Coldplay - Paradise is excellent.
