YOUR England squad

A lot of his stats are better than Rooney's this season apparently. Why people think Carroll should go is beyond me

The problem with England subs in recent times is that it's always been like for like. If Defoe isn't working bringing on Bent, If Lennon isn't working bringing on Shaun-Wright Phillips. When there's half hour to go and we need a goal and what we've started with isn't working why not try something different, Carroll is better than Crouch in my opinion so for me Carroll should be on the plane.

Amazing that Carrick doesn't get more recognition. Mainstay in the United midfield for a good 5 years now, easily as good as Barry and possibly Parker.

Chandlers Ford
Goal Keepers
Hart, Foster, Ruddy

Defenders
Cole, Baines, Walker, Cahill, Richards, Jones, Ferdinand, Jagielka

Midfielders
Barry, Parker, Lampard, Scholes (Cleverley if he's not available), Gerrard, Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Young

Strikers
Rooney, Crouch, Bent, Welbeck

Agree with your squad entirely, except for the strikers, where I'd have Carroll and Sturridge, over Bent and Wellbeck.

I'd only play one proper striker though, supported by lots of PACE either side, in a 4-3-3 formation. Ideally Rooney, supported by Young and Ox-Cham, but equally, Carroll, with Walcott / Sturridge, etc,etc

Edit - and I've just noticed you've left out Lescott. He'd be in, for Jones.

I'd be quite happy if any of them joined the Albion.

The last time I can remember England having 2 good forwards was the Shearer and Owen days. (owen and Rooney never really played together).

Maybe having one superstar in Rooney would help us, if all the attention is stopping him that would leave the 2nd one free to bang the goals in!

Ok, so I was exaggerating about how I would feel if they played for us, but Bent, Crouch, Defore, Welbeck, international class, do me a favour! Average, at best, prem players, wouldn't get near the squads of many other top international sides.

But it appears Welbeck is being cosen above Jermain Defoe, a player with a proven track record who has scored MORE goals this season in FEWER games. I don't get it

Remind me of the last time Defoe put on an England shirt and had a good game? I think he is a quality player, but he has never shown it for England. Its time for change.

The freindly in Holland, where he inspired a comeback to draw from 2-0 down?

that's a good point...but there are not too many times before or since that and it was a friendly. I think England need to change it up, stop trying and hoping for the same regular players to perform, like Defoe or Downing.

Either way, it'll be interesting to find out what approach Roy will go with.

All over the place
With all the talking about Scholes and Bobby going to the Euros or not and the debate about Rooney, what would be your 23 man squad for the Euros and what would your starting XI be?

I think mine would be...

Hart, Green, Loach

A. Cole, Baines, Lescott, Jones, Rio, Cahill, Walker, Johnson

Walcott, Chamberlain, Gerrard, Parker, Henderson, A.N Other, Sinclair, Young

Rooney, Welbeck, Crouch, Holt

A mix of the 'next generation' to gain experiance and 'old heads' to help them along and give us a chance of doing resonably well.

Out of those I would start with...

Hart

Johnson, Rio, Lescott/Cahill, Cole

Walcott, Gerrard, Parker, Young

Rooney, Welbeck

This is obviously dependant on them all being fit.

LOACH!?!?!? I assume that's a joke cos he's one of the worst keepers I've ever seen! Hart, Foster and Ruddy for me...........and as for Fielding - LOL!!!
