reading this board has forced me to register and post a message to all the people on here who think that everything is so terrible.

Firstly i accept that adams is not doing the job, and am not convinced that he will ever either.
But this is brighton not man city and it is actually nothing short of damn right incredible that we are not in division three, look at bournemouth or perhaps better luton. The fact that we can even consider spending money on players and have survived so long above the basement given our current set up amazes me, this period has been coming and i believe the following to be true.

-we would be at least as low were wilkins here now.
-sacking adams now will almost inevitably lead to relegation.
-our only hope is to stick together, support the team and hope that we finish 20th or higher.
-if we can achieve that then i believe adams should be given till october next year to prove what he can do.

I know what you mean, but i honestly think that we were very fortunate to finish as high as seventh last year and i believe that wilkins was nearly as tactically inept as adams currently is, but our biggest problam (which started last year) is that we have collectively got pissed off with withdean thats fans players etc. The is no atompsphere and our home form has been sliding for some time (3 years or more). to be suceesful at any level you need to be hard to beat at home, teams are used to withdean now , its not intimidating at all, in fact i reckon they turn up and think our poor fans have travelled to pay 23.00 and be ten miles form the pitch the least we can bloody do is try are hardest to win for them.

1. Finished 7th last year... where do you get that from?
2. BOLLOCKS
3. Funny because I remember Knight said Adams was the man to take us forwards, not 13 places below.
4. So give him extra time for being SHIT

Sorry... don't agree with a word of it

1- 7th last year but lower this year in my opinion as division is much harder and sqaud that finished seventh was mostly loan players.

2-new manager wont have time to get players in assess team etc by the time he doaes we could be 10 points adrift.

3-knight has to say that doesnt he, and i am sure he believed at the time.

4- IF come next october with players gone new ones in we are sitting in the top ten then its time worth risking, if not sack him and a new manager will have time to work with the team.

one fact
most teams outside of the premiership who are in bottom 4/5 and sack their managera after christmas get relegated regardless of new manger.

I can see where you are coming from. However the signs have been there for all to see for a long time now. The excuses are becoming tiresome, tedious and pathetic.
I was very pro- Adams up until a month or so ago. But reality hits home when your club is sitting dangerously close to dropping into the basement of the football league. Im sure MA is a top bloke off the pitch, and is still an Albion legend. The club has to stop thinking about the past, and more on the present. Micky is not doing the job he was brought in for, in fact quite the opposite. The facts are, no matter who disagrees, is that truthfully speaking Wilkins should not have gone. Then MAYBE we might not be in this sorry mess that we find ourselves in.

Gullable - the table doesn't lie after 46 games, so we finished 7th on merit. Remember that the guts were ripped out of the team at Christmas when Hammond, Savage and O'Callaghan left, yet Wilkins managed to pull it around a second time so that we had a decent shot at the play-offs, missing out narrowly.

Adams is a broken man bereft of ideas, and it's a question of when, not if, we drop into the relegation places.

This squad still has enough quality to stay up and I, like a lot of people, am so sick of watching brain-dead football I've practically lost interest.

I think this maybe proves what a good job Wilkins done, we only missed out on a play-off place by 5 points in the end - 2 wins.

Savage ??

true but it was still loan players keeping it together with the exception of murray, the football under wilkins wasnt much better, i accept that wilkins got more out of the younger players, but i am not sure those players are really good enough. On paper the players adams brought in are better. I still believe that he will turn it around if he is given the chance. I confidently perdict we will finish 14th or higher if micky is still here come may. IF not than i reckon its div three all the way. And you can hold me to that !!

Off to bed now

You have hit the nail on the head in the two sentences I have highlighted above. Wilikns got more out of the younger players, who in your opinion were not good enough. Adams has brought in better players than last year, on paper.
This tells me one thing, that Wilkins is a better coach than Adams.
This why we are in the mess we are in at the moment with a supposedly superior squad than last season.

We've been punching above our weight for years. The level of expectancy has always been unrealistic, and by rights a league one relegation dogfight is probably what our current status deserves. Our fans are shit, we are skint, and we play in a converted athletics stadium that we don't even own. A few successes in recent years gives fans a delusion that we are a big club worthy of a shot at promotion every season it seems.

The impatience of the fans is pretty surreal. I cannot believe the fans won't even give a reputable manager (who is also incidentally a Brighton legend) even a season to build a squad. Their instict is to blame the manager when things are not going well, even though there are many variables as to why a football club may not be succeeding on the pitch. A similar turn of events happened with another competant former manager of ours, Mark McGhee.

It is also worth considering that a majority of this board are angry geeks that have a tendency to be negative, impatient and outright stupid. It would be a shame if it had any influence in the real world.

You are absolutely right Ibo...

BUT even a half competent manager would get a fighting team out on the field.... İt's not a matter of us losing regulalary it's HOW we are losing and too often it does seem to be the ineptness of tactical decisioıns.

Without MA we might still be in the same position we are now but maybe we would be making a better job of getting out of that position.

2-0 loss at home to Leeds is expected. Failing to score against a League 2 team who pretty much left their throat bare is poor poor piss poor!
