isnt this a fun little thread.

i may be not particualrly well informed but for the casusal observer that couldnt give a flying f*** about the 2 teams that have ruined scottish football, (ive just read this whole thread and still couldnt tell you which teams catholic and which is protestant. not that i give a shit either) it does rather seem that they are both racist bigot scum who are equally as disgraceful as each other.

and while i'd love to see them get booted out of the scottish league there is no f***ing way we want or need that sort of thing joining the nationwide.

p.s. st johnstone all the f***ing way :salute:

[does remind me of mo johnston's agent being interviewed on 5 live - think it was on the way to bristol city a coupla seasons back, may be wrong - talking about when he signed for rangers, the ira put out a hit on him till he scored the winner in an old firm derby, and they decided they loved him. fickle fucktards arent they]

That makes no sense whatsoever. You, or the agent, have got that completely wrong.

I dunno, growing up with the Albion and my mates we all had a Scottish "team" even if it was only to make the pub interesting after the game if we'd lost.

I picked Rangers then and have no problem with that choice, being an England fan and despiser of anyone who thinks blowing up kids is a good idea.

However given a real choice I'd love an end to sectarian violence but that's about as likely as Tarantino producing the next Disney movie.

apologies, i may well have got religions/various racist paramilitary organisations wrong! the general gist is right, johnston signed for rangers and one of the irish mob wanted him dead...

presumably the UVF or one of that lot.

Which reminds me, Guinness Boy - you seem to forget that some (not all, of course) Rangers fans sing in support of the UVF, UFF, UDA etc - who have blown up a few kids in their time, too. According to your reasoning, you need to oppose both of the Old Firm.

So, Jambo there are no Union Jacks at Tynecastle anymore? Or I was born under a Union Jack... or BNP in the shed... Oh how I hope Hearts have cleaned up their act.

I used to go regularly when I lived in Embra for 6 years 1987 to 93. There were some of the worst bigots I've ever met then. We had BNP in Lochend.

Anyway, We are Alba.....

Point taken. Aberdeen Seagull admitted the same thing. There is a small mindless minority of burberry capped Hearts fans who peddle the UJ/BNP stuff. The pieman (chief exec) to his credit has attempted to tackle this head on by closing down section N1 at Tynie where these idiots congregated last year. He also used some pretty heavyhanded security tactics to eject some of these guys for singing songs like the sash. I'm pleased to say that these guys are very much in the minority in the same way that the racist bigots on this messageboard seem to be in a minority. Unfortunately Rantic have prospered through sectarianism. It's their whole raison d'etre. The away fans are the worst. I was at Tynecastle for one game each against the OF last year and I did not hear one football related chant coming from the Roseburn stand.

PS Hopefully meet you at Peterboro

Exactly which generalisation are you making there Mullers? That every Catholic is scum, in favour of the terrorism? Or just that every season ticket holder at Old Trafford and Parkhead are?

As for burning the Pope, isn't burning an image of the leader of a people quite blatant racism. Check it in the dictionary before you shoot me down.

Could be - IF the effigy of the Pope was an effigy of the current Pope.

But it isn't. It's an effigy of Pope Paul V (1605-1621), the Pope at the time of the Gunpowder Plot.

Lewes Bonfire isn't there for the perpetuation of sectarian hatred.

"Ours is not a spirit of intolerance (except of tyranny), but rather of gratitude and remembrance" - as it says, each year in the Cliffe Bonfire Society's programme.

Ian Paisley got run out of town quite quickly a few years back, when he turned up without understanding this.
