If a player is Under 18 there is a limit to the number of overs they can bowl in a spell. It's to protect them from being over-bowled.

Yes. 5 overs max in a spell. But Dan is an offy; he isn't running in 40 yards and bowling at 90mph. Stupid rule.

Glad it wasn't around in my day. I took an end for the whole innings.

Maximum is 7 for anyone over 16. 18 overs in a day.

It doesn't apply to spinners.

Quite a rapid action for an offy? ???

According to the Guardian's County Championship ***live*** coverage, Dan Ibrahim is the youngest player to make fifty on debut in the Championship. :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

He's the youngest player to make a 50 in the CC full stop. It just happens to be his debut too.

That's some record, seeing the CC has been going for nearly 150 years (he's nowhere near the youngest in FC cricket though. Tendulkar scored his first test 50 at a younger age)

Malan dropped by Head ... he's really reinforcing his claim to be Sussex's worst ever overseas player

Lol.
That title is surely safe.
Trav has bigger plans - worst ever Sussex signing. The nominations are?

I believe that's known as an " Archer" ...

The most curious thing..
There is a sad absence of glamour in the Sussex team these days - aka the psychopath fast bowler from Pakistan, South Africa, West Indies, wherever, who's whole point in life is to (nearly) take somebody's head off.

Previous holders of the title include Messrs Snow, Khan, Le Roux, Stephenson.

Currently vacant.

Also the batsman who can score runs against anyone regardless. Previous holders include Messrs Miandad, Goodwin Bevan and Wessels.

Currently vacant.

It's been a while.

TBF, there's a lack of big names all around the county circuit. Glamorgan have got Labuschagne but there's no-one else. Where are Smith, Kohli, Warner. Jadeja, Ashwin, Pant? Where are Cummins, Starc, Bumrah, Rabada, Yasir, Holder?

We had some good players back in the days but Hampshire had Greenidge and Richards, Notts had Rice and Hadlee, Somerset had Richards and Garner etc

Having said that, Head is a poor an overseas player as we've had - Pringle was pretty bad but I think Head's worse

It's not as if Lambischagne's scored many runs for Glamorgan, albeit his 40 odd in their current game against Lancs will probably turn out to be pretty crucial.

Williamson's turned out for Yorkshire fairly frequently over the last however many years. Except the South Africans like Kyle Abbott or Harmer, most of the big name overseas players seem to be batsmen looking to get half a season's experience in England. Or otherwise people at the tail end of their career like Sangakarra at Surrey, or maybe Roach this season.

Malan should be at Lord's, especially given his Middlesex career.

Hindsight! Was never really impressed with him for England, TBH. He's certainly taking advantage of a good wicket and an inexperienced bowling attack (who, TBF, aren't bowling badly).

We just might not be able to win this one.

Errmm ....................

Good rearguard action, especially by young Orr. Out a little while ago for 67 - pretty good debut fr the young man. Now - what's ot to be? Dogged resistance or roll over and have our tummy tickled?

Head getting his average for the season into double figures would be a good start.
