Plymouth striker/winger - Gus considering a move for him according to Daily Mail. Southampton and Charlton also interested. Anyone know anything about him?

If we went for him I think it would be a signal that Benno was on his way to the Premier League with Norwich.
A young player just starting to come into his own.

I thought Bolasie played up front?

He is a winger who has been pushed into playing more as a striker because Plymouth sold everyone to stay afloat. He leads their stats for the number of shots but crucially hasn't exactly scored too many. What he has in abundance is potential and pace and the fact that Reid has pushed him inside indicates that he could fill the role that Gus likes Benno to take up behind the strikers as well as his natural role as an out and out winger. He has played in the Championship (last year with Plymouth) and although he would be a little bit of a gamble because his only experience has been in a failing side, I reckon he is someone who could well make an impact long term.

That said the Argyle forum has it down as his agent trying to drum up business which is probably right :)

With Noone, Bennett and maybe LuaLua next season, are we really going to spend money on him to be fourth choice in our squad?

I wouldn't be so sure, we always throw that up as the first line of defence but it goes back to a couple of years back when we had an awful lot of talent (Norris, Buzsaky, Ebanks-Blake, Halmosi, Gosling etc.). Agents were touting their players backsides all over the place because our wages were out of step with the clubs we were then competing with (CCC play-offs). Given Yala is still going to be on a more than decent wedge for a (now) League 2 player with two consecutive relegations on his CV I wouldn't be so sure his agent would aim that high, you never know though.

Yala?, what's to say?...........he'll entertain you but quite a bit of the time it'll be through laughing at him. Very frustrating because his turn of speed is quite phenominal, he'll make a fast defender look like Doug Rougvie on a particularly slow day. Because of that he'll get into a number of promising positions and you're out of your seat willing him to finish it, then he'll sky it over the stand!. If he could finish he'd be lethal...........he'd also be in the premiership to be fair.

Signed from a Cypriot side as a very raw youngster, his you tube highlight reel looked world class. He's been in and out and done OK but his frustrations tend to make his appearances sporadic at best. He was loaned out to Barnet last season (or the season before?.....it's all blurred into one horrible nightmare!) and was white hot at league 2 level playing with Albert Adomah (now doing well himself in the CCC). I'd love to keep him therefore, lowering your club to the level of your player it's not the most sensible plan to get the most out of him but we seem to have achieved it!.

He's had more of a run recently due to the spaces that have been appearing in the squad, Nooney had his shirt for a long time, Jamie Mackie before that. We've not been using him as an out and out striker, his poor finishing is probably the reason, he can make more of an impact from the wing. He's been our wildcard option I guess, unplayable pace that might just kick start an opportunity.

He has the longest arms in football and he runs like a cross between the T1000 in Terminator 2 and Forrest Gump, very effective but funny as f**k .

If you were signing him for a League 1 campaign i'd say he's worth a squad place. In the CCC?, it's a bit like I was saying about Barnes on his 'uber thread', he's far from the finished article............only In Yala's case he's been about for a few more years than Ash and isn't really progressing much. Brilliant pace, instinctive running on and off the ball, when it comes to the end product, be it shooting or passing it just goes horribly wrong more often than it should.

Hope it's pish because at League 2 level he'd be fine and dandy for us.

Then again, the creditors vote today so he may be clubless by the end of the day .

Sounds like a candidate for gus/tano/Charlie coaching methods to me

He's already had Paul Sturrock, Paul Mariner and Peter Reid - that's about a thousand caps worth of experience...........I suppose there's always the law of an infinate number of monkeys heeeds .

Without being rude, our coaching methods have taken our first team players up about 3 levels this season - the turnaround in quality of some of our players is miraculous to say the least, IF he were to come here I'm sure gus would get something different out of him tbh

.......and wishing to be equally polite I should point out that you have benefitted from OUR coaching methods through the development of Ash and Nooney from non-league nobodies .

.......on a related note, so did QPR from Jamie Mackie for whom we have a six figure fee due if they get promoted to the Premiership........who pays that if the FA decide to deny them through a legal process?. It never rains
:annoyed:
