Malmo to Brighton
THE INSIDER says: 1/5

The Portuguese centre-back has been training with Championship side Brighton but they look unlikely to be able to afford a deal in January.

Gus Poyet has a desire to try and find a few ambitious bargains as he did with Vicente and Yago is another of similar calibre.

A 6ft 3ins defender who is comfortable playing out from the back he has a fantastic pedigree having been at Benfica, Sporting, Real Madrid and Valencia.

However, after failing to command regular starting places he joined Espanyol then went to Malmo in Sweden. He is now a free agent though and looking to grab a move to England.

Still only 23, Yago could prove a real bargain in this window as Premier League and Championship sides look to bolster defences.

I think to say that he's "of a similar calibre" to Vicente is over-doing it a bit, but he's certainly been at some top clubs.

"unlikely to be able to afford a deal"....I wonder if that's a comment on our finances or his demands. Mind you, how would the Daily Hate know either way?

I know you have to take your opportunities if a really good deal/player comes along ....but do we need him?

How much do Malmo players get? I thought the Swedish league was noddy, well certainly no better than the Championship.

Although, I guess they may get Champions League money?

Sign him up.

Especially if Dunk is likely to leave at the end of the season

just made a game on FM12  wages at malamo 1st team start from £500 to £2,700 so nothing really & if you want to go on the basis of the game he was on a grand a week and rated their 4th best centre back

You might be blurring a game with real life there. Anyway I'm to busy for this, still looking for those blue hedgehogs in the garden. My guess is they are to fast for me see. The hunt goes on.

To be fair Football Manager is usually quite reliable for the wages and transfer fee's of players. Although I'm not sure how good their knowledge is of the swedish league so can't be confident on their '4th best centreback.'

Anyway we have 3 centre backs at the moment, not including Hall who can play as a full back. I say sign him, he's young and has potential, whilst greer is getting on a bit. If he has pace and can head the ball then it sounds like a perfect player for us. If a big club comes along with big money for him and dunk eventually then we have enough defenders to let one go. And then we've made a good profit whilst we're at it. If not, well we're a premiership club by this stage ???:bounce:

the problem being that, playing ability aside, either he or his agent rate him very highly indeed if we cannot afford to sign him as a currently out of contract player - certainly well above the figures on FM which would be unlikely to challengbe the budget
