I've come into a small sum of money. I'd like a PS4. Would I be foolish in frittering away my small inheritance on this machine?

How desperate are you to get it ASAP? Wait 6 months til the first price drop/glitches bugs have been ironed out, is what I'd recommend, and is what I'm doing.

What games are you getting tomorrow?

I'm still torn between the two.
Completely undecided and I think I'll just see what the best deal is in January..

Highly doubt it as demand for both consoles has been sky high and probably will be for the next 3+ months as the delayed games start to come out.

I'd hazard a guess at the first real price drop 9+ months from now.

I got a bundle including killzone and need for speed, I also have COD and fifa already so plenty of Variety :)

The main reason to get either of them is to say that you own one, the games are a bit ho-hum at present. Far more sense to wait until next Christmas when there will be some proper AAA games to choose from, and by then the winner of the war will be known.

Has anyone here got their xbox? Any good?
Yep, it's very good. Dolby Digital isn't working yet, so a pain if you're used to DD headphones, but apart from that there's not a lot wrong.

I want to get a PS4 early next year - how long till they start dropping the prices on new consoles
Unless the release is a flop (and neither has been), I wouldn't expect a price drop until 2015. What you should get though is some deals with games, or improved versions (bigger HDDs etc).
Guess they might go down a bit after the Xmas/January rush?
Not a chance.

Another probably stoopid question, are games likely to stay around the £50 mark? Or are they higher for the release titles?
Likely to be similar, with deals available as they are now.

Xbox one will be the better console in the coming future, the game companies have been able to tap into the xbox potential far more than the ps4.
Although my choice this time round is the Xbox, that's complete nonsense. The developers have been able to get more from the PS4, hence several multiplat games being a higher resolution on the PS4. Both will have their exclusives, so that will sway many buyers. The PS4 will often have a slightly higher resolution, or slightly more stable frame rate. The X1 will have some other things too, like rumble triggers in the controller (good for driving games), and more integrated camera features (like using Kinect to spot you leaning in BF4).

Owning both systems, I have to say the xbox as a multimedia centre and games machine is far more flexible. Ps4 will be traded in after Christmas as a big disappointment.
Where did you get your PS4 from early? And why don't you think the PS4 is flexible as a games machine?

No winner will be declared at Christmas. Both will work well with the new games etc. If getting one in the next 6 months, you might as well get it now and enjoy it, nothing's going to change in 6 months.

Fair comment, though it looks as if Microsoft have scored a series of Colin Hawkins style own goals to date in terms of marketing and pricing.

Having seen nothing compelling to make me want to buy either, I think I'll be buying a Chillblast Fusion Uzi gaming PC for Christmas instead.

I have XboxOne. But none of my friends have one. So can't play any to them as they still are on the 360's

I have to say though I am loving my XboxOne. Anyone fancy some FIFA ?

Plus if any of you are thinking of getting an extra control for your XboxOne go to sainsburys as that's the cheapest place you can get it with the play and charge kit for 54.99.
Game are selling the same thing ( controller and play&charge kit) for 74.99

To be honest. I have always been a fan of the xbox and have had all of the xbox consoles. I don't really like the play station but I wouldn't be bias.
I prefer the online abilities of the xbox for gaming and the applications are great as well when they are added on. The only thing which the XboxOne lacks at the moments is the apps. I know its 40 pound a year for the live account but I think it worth it.

hola all. I was planning on buying an xbox one. My issue is i live in Norway and launch here has been delayed untill 3rd quarter 2014!!! seriously tempted to switch to ps4 out of principle and an up yours to microsoft, but never really got on with the ps analogue controller, and i think the microsft exclusive games are better than sony. I have also considered buying ps4 and part ex'ing when xbox eventually comes out. xboxone isnt supported here so cant import as wouldnt be able to turn the bloody thing on!

Basically what do i get with ps4 i wouldnt get with xbox, are there any decent launch games and would it be suitable as a main dvd/blue ray player in åfamily room, ie not too loud like original 360?

thanks in advance

Pretty sure xbox one and ps4 are both all regions. Your only problem is exporting the games over.

Wow, that sucks.

Just get a US Xbox account (piece of cake), and sign up to a service that hides your IP if necessary. Some people in the UK have got a US Xbox second account, just so they can buy digital games at US prices.

The PS4 is nowhere near as loud as the original 360, but the X1 is quieter still.
