X factor - Should I cover my bet?

For those of you who watch X factor, I stuck £3.50 on Joe McElderry to win at 8/1 before the first live show...

The odds aren't up yet on Skybet for the final but I know Joe will be odds on favourite now...

Is it worth sticking money on the other two or do you think I have a dead cert here?

for the sake of £3.50 or £24 if you win, you have wasted my life by making me open this thread!!

I think its a close thing. Stacy could still pull it off. However, its certainly not worth bothering with what you have at stake.

Joe has got it because the biggest single voting demographic is the teeny girls, who Olly won't appeal to and neither will Stacey... Joe has got it won, facts.

There is much critisicm of the choice of the winners song as it is one designed to be sung by a young person which means that Simon Cowell is 'convinced' Joe or Stacey will win. This apparently upset Danyl and Olly.

Take it from me, the moment you start 'covering' meaningless bets is when you start losing. You bet so many cover bets in the end you barely break even with any of them. A good bet is just to put one outcome on one event, that way you never get sucked in to getting obsessed with certain events and eventually gambling as a whole.

Win or lose, you have managed to place a value bet. If you can keep backing 8-13 chances at 8-1, you will have losers along the way, but you will end up miles ahead. Regardless of the outcome of any individual bet, the real issue is whether your judgement is sound.
