Wycombe Wanderers Player killed in car crash

That does seem strange but maybe they thought its what the player would have wanted and consulted the family? Just a thought..

According to the Sporting Life website he didn't pass away until 4:20 this afternoon, so maybe the club weren't aware how serious his injuries were.

Still, a sad waste of young life. RIP.

Just had a call from my sister who was at the Wycombe game.

Apparently about 4.20 a note was brought into the executive boxes to say that Steve Hayes (managing director) had an important announcement to make at 5.25pm in the Woodlands Lounge.

He explained the circumstances. Apparently Mark was critically ill in hospital as a result of being involved in a car accident this morning. The driver of the other car died. Mark's parents wanted the game to proceed. The players didn't know (hence the huddle at the end). Mark died at 4.00p

Steve announced that the players were the first to be told and then the supporters. He said he wanted the supporters to hear the announcement from the club, so that the message was delivered correctly and not via the press (as he didn't know how it might be delivered).

Very sad end to a good afternoon.
