Will be watching, £14.95 - Bit of a rip though.

Agreed.

The days of getting every PPV on SS1 with no extra payment are sadly well gone.

On the plus side though, a friend of mine in the US has had to pay pretty much double our price to be able to watch.

There's your answer fella.

Thats really not the point though. At the end of the day its entertainment. Just like a tv show or a film.

Im quite indifferent to it really. Liked it at school when everyone watched it but never see it now as I dont have sky and not bothered about missing it either.

It does annoy me when people bash on about it being fake though. Really? We never knew! :lolol:

There's a vast difference between pre-determined and fake.

Pre-determined suggests, perfectly rightly, that they know who's going to win and who is going to lose. They know what should happen from start to finish of the show.

Fake, to me at least, suggests that what is being presented is somehow a deception. For example, if the clip I posted were 'fake', then Mick Foley wouldn't have really been thrown off of, and through, that cage, but he was.

He wouldn't have ended that match with one of his teeth lodged up his nose, but he did.

Pre-determined, yes. Fake, no.
Ummm......no.
Whatever way you dress it up, if a "sporting contest" is pre-determined to decide who wins, then it is FAKE.

Entertaining ? Perhaps
Skilful ? Certainly
A Contest ? No

Therefore, uninteresting. When bookies start giving odds, then maybe the rest of us can start taking it seriously. Till then, its Emmerdale with Spandex. While the rest of us are waiting for the Champions League to start.

There's the point, because WWE themselves don't promote it (not anymore, anyway) as a sporting contest, they call it 'sports-entertainment'.

I agree with you when you compare it to soap operas, because that's essentially what it is, except people don't get slagged off or reminded that Emmerdale is 'fake'.

So what you saying is anything pre-determined is uniteresting.

It not just down there with 'Emmerdale'; its down there with 'The Lord of the Rings', 'Harry Potter', 'Doctor Who' and any other programme you consume.

Is it a contest no? Does anyone who enjoys it care? No. At the end of the day Frodo vs evil people is a contest too. Its something you can take an interest in.

But soap operas are so tedious.
Don't you prefer REAL sport ?

I like a lot of real sports, football, boxing and MMA in particular.

Well no, its not a "contest" at all.
If I'm watching a film, I know there's a plot guiding a storyline. But wrestling has commentators. It has shrieking americans holding up signs. It has match-ups. It has "World Title Bouts", it has box office. And its all BOLLOCKS !

OK kids, switch your brains off and enjoy. But I am genuinely disturbed by the fully grown adults I see in those crowds taking it seriously.

Arn't they a bit...scarey ?

Surely you could argue wrestling is like The Blair Witch Project. They know its scripted, you know it is, but they still act as if it's real.

It's all in the presentation

Can't speak for others, but I find it to be great escapism.

At it's best, and spite of the fact that you know it's pre-determined, you find (and I have found) yourself getting caught up in it, which can be great fun for a couple of hours.

There's a plot guiding WWE too though. A Rhino thing in Doctor Who taking a hospital to the moon is BOLLOCKS too but you put the reality to one side and enjoy it for what it is.

As for people taking it seriously. I don't think either of us can know that really. When we got to footy its an outlet - you swear and say/chant things you wouldnt in everyday conversation. Just because one's a contest and one isn't, doesnt make the participation in the event any different.

I'm not saying its good, last time I watched it I thought it was utter wank. Im just pissed i didnt get a glasto ticket and in a confrontational mood and I do think all the shit WWE gets whenever it mentioned in society is rediculous. Is it shit and fake? yes? Most things are. Get over it!

Once again, I've got it free and have absolutely no interest in it.

Its free for anyone with a proper satellite setup and not a Sky toy, though.

Yeah, but I don't go to the effort of making f***ing SIGNS on flourescent cardboard to hold up, like

"Tranmere SUCK"

....perhaps I should.
