I thought they were pointing at their wedding rings.

It does irritate me that when many footballers score a goal their first thought is about the celebration routine or some secret little signal. I'd much prefer it if their gut reaction was to be delighted for themselves and for their team-mates and for the fans. But it seems that their first thought after a goal is about contract negotiations, in-jokes and anything other than the club that is paying their wages.

Like all "parents", I think we - as fans and ultimately the source of all the money in football - are getting what we deserve. Spoilt, self-important, self-indulgent children with little thought for anyone other than themselves.

I'd like to see the other team be able to take the ball out of the net, race back to the centre line and start play as quickly as they like - would soon put a stop to all this poncey dancing, celebrating nonsense.
