He’d be better than Southgate and Hodgeson. Who are/were shit.

Bearing in mind Dan Ashworth's previous job he is presumably on the FA's radar. English managers in the Premier League are:

Dean Smith - maybe
Graham Potter - maybe
Sean Dyche - possible but I suspect wouldn't sit well with the FA
Roy Hodgson - Already done the job
Scott Parker - Probably going to have a relegation on his CV soon
Steve Bruce - Getting on a bit
Chris Wilder - Another one about to have a relegation on his CV
Sam Allardyce - Already done the job)

Probably throw in Franks Lampard and Eddie Howe and Brendan Rodgers might be considered close enough to English.

Slightly hypothetical as there is no job at the moment but Potter is probably in the top five candidates if they went English again.

Well.. of course he is! This isn’t breaking news.I remember having this conversation on NSC well over a year ago, GP’s probably been on the FAs radar for a while, probably even before he joined Albion. I’ve felt for a long time he’s a perfect England candidate (unfortunately for us) and as you point out, there’s not actually that many good top level English candidates. I would probably add Gerrard to your list.

Fortunately world class Southgate will be in charge for a while yet.
