Would you give Forster another year?

Would you offer him another year's contract in the summer?

YES, YES AND YES.

problem is he might want more than that.

I would say ok have a 2 year contact with the 2nd as player coach.

Poyet is likley to F**k off in the near future, Forster is the type of person we could groom into managment.

Yes, yes I would.

If he didn't accept the year, I would offer a second year if he scored 'x' number of league goals.

I would happily give him a two year contract.

Two years with player/coach option for the second. If we can keep on dead wood like Charlie, Dodge and Watto then it would be criminal to let someone like Forster go who has more to offer than any of them.

One year, certainly...two years, definitely not. I'd wait until I see how he fares next season before offering him another year.

And what's all the clamour for him to be player/coach? Surely you'd have to see him on the training ground day in, day out, to know if he's going to be a good coach. Plenty of players who've taken their badges have not made it as a coach.

Still can cut it in this league and is a great player to have around for our inexperienced strikers like Holdroyd and Barker

Yes - and in place of that given to El Abd if finance was a problem.

He hasn't even got to the stage where he's so old he's a bench player, so unless there is compelling medical evidence to the contrary I'd offer him a contract until 30th June 2011. At that stage things may be different. In theory players will be clamouring to sign because we'll be playing in the new stadium in August.

For a bloke that been our captain and leading scorer for the past couple of seasons and on the eve of a big match this just looks SOOO tin pot.

In fact I can't quite believe this situation has been allowed to arise.

An absolutely undoubted yes, and I am unanimous in that.
