Manure seem to have the luck of ...er.... the devil and scrape through every situation. Who would credit that they might still have any outside chance of getting back into the Champs League tournament after getting dumped out a couple of weeks back?

Thats an interesting case - the swiss fa banned these players, swiss law over-ruled that decision, so they have been playing, and now fifa wants the swiss fa to ban them again or face the consequences, even though its in contravention of swiss law!

Not really. If Basle fielded players they shouldn't have fielded then Manure shouldn't have been knocked out in the first place. And the team to be faced in the next round has done nothing to deserve getting to the quaters without a game.

I wouldn't worry about it, they're not good enough to win anyway, and given that it's corrupt nazi gold switzerland, Basle will probably stay in anyway.

Its not Basle who fielded the illegal players it was FC Sion. All Swiss club sides could be punished if the Swiss FA fail to comply with FIFA and punish FC Sion.

WTF? I've jumped to conclusions there - So Basle did nothing wrong at all? Oh. Well if Basle are kicked out, firstly, I don't think the next round should be played one team short. The replacement team should either be the 3rd placed team from their group (Manure) or the 3rd placed team with the highest points from all groups.

So, what would you expect them to do if they were offered a place back, turn it down ? Would any club, of course not. I'm no united fan, but they didn't complain about being knocked out, and as far as I know they've not campaigned to be reinstated, so I don't know quite what they've done wrong (apart from score in 55 secs today).

How about re-instating the team from across the entire group stage finishing 3rd in their group but with the highest number of points/ goal difference ?

I think the Swiss FA must have egg on their faces, if they don't act quickly. Then I can see the unthinkable happen for every Swiss club and that is being banned from all European Competitions for minimum of 5 years.
