Up until Suarez was suspended they were doing fine, but a poor run in 2012 means no Champions League and a battle for a Uefa cup place. Hardly a disaster but he has spent far too much money on very average players which seems to have been Liverpools transfer policy for a long time, bluster the squad with expensive signings and hope they step up to the value paid for them. They do get robbed by many clubs for their signings

If Woy had been given that money to spend, and the opportunity to move on from Torres, he would have done a much better job of it.

I think on PAPER Dalglish had it SORTED.

I mean, i fell for it. My dream team at the beginning of the year had Downing and Carroll. On paper it SHOULD have worked. Cross and BOOM. Adam and Gerrard spraying it out wide etc etc.

But it's just rubbish. Henderson at £20M is just SILLY. They have NO right winger. There is no balance at all. They have a really good central partnership in defence but have really missed Lucas (i never thought i'd say that).

I am really enjoying their decline. I especially love that Newcastle took that Carroll money, bought the senegalese front two for only £10M, Ben arfa for £5 and all of a sudden they have a potent front 3 for £15m.

Thing is, Roy was not doing well. His record may be better than KK but it was still TERRIBLE and his signings (albeit Meireles) were EVEN WORSE.
Joe Cole, Jovanovic, Poulson, Konchesky. Woeful.

Liverpool will do the same thing in the summer. Sign the likes of Matty Jarvis(very good, but not a world beater) for 7 million or something and stall.

The main aim of the "big" clubs is Premiership and Champions League. Without getting into the top 4 and without the huge wealth of some other clubs its going to be almost impossible to attract decent numbers of Champions League calibre players.

Therefore I think even winning 2 cups it will still be a disastrous season for the Scousers as they arent going to be able to build for next season.

Hodgson was sacked after Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Wolves who are a disgrace to the EPL. The club was at its lowest ebb and Dalglish has rejuvinated it. Yes they're on a poor run currently but thewy're on course to win the only 2 trophies they could realistically win at the beginning of the season.

LFC received £60m for Torres and Merieles. With that money we bought Carroll, Henderson and Coates. Would LFC have been a better team with Torres and Merieles this season? No idea.
The new owners spent £40m on Downing (England International), Henderson (U21 England captain) and Adam (Scottish International and arguably one of the best PL players last year). On paper that looks like money well spent. Has it worked out? No.
A lot of money spent on players that for whatever reason have not always produced the goods. Suarez cost £22m, and LFC have turned down £35m from PSG, so a little money to be had there if we are skint. Was I happy with the signings? No. AC and JH were panic buys by new owners trying not to upset the faithful after Torres was sold. They underestimated the fans and that will not happen again. If they had done that at the Red Sox they would have been lynched.
Is KD (Not KK, that's Kevin Keegan) the right man for the job? He never was for me. I wanted AVB. A young new manager to liven us up a little after the, how shall I say it "Technical era" of Benitez.
I thought KD had been out of the game too long, and did not want to see this legend of a man (I mean his life outside of football) receive the sort of abuse he has been getting now from some quarters. he had the best intentions for his club, and was there when the club needed him.
In the top flight there are 3 domestic trophies. LFC have the first, and have at least a 25% chance of a second. Not really interested in 4th, but I do want to see the PL in the trophy room. So 2 out of 3, is it good enough? One out of three? Probably enough for another season, but KD will decide what is best for the club.
I expect to see a lot of business in the summer but whatever KD does is OK with me, and most other Reds. He has done enough to earn the right to decide fir himself.

I don't think Liverpool have enough quality in their squad to challenge and their starting 11 isn't in the top 5 anymore. Some serious changes need to take place for them to be a chapions leaue team again

The issue with Uncle Woy is that the players didn't want to play for him!

The higher profile players didn't like the way that he set up the training which was designed to stop them shifting so many goals.

These are the same methods that got Fulham to the Europa league final and got the baggies punching above their wait. If the likes of carragher & gerrard had decided to get behind him, I dare say that he may well have still been there

So what they won the league cup, so did Birmingham. And let's face it most clubs go out of their way NOT to win the league cup.
Oh.... And of course they beat a top half championship club on pens to win it. What an achievement.

Kenny is a whining dreary moaner, his outlook is that Liverpool are the giants who are hard done by and his support of Suarez and attitude towards other clubs leaves a lot to be desired.

Any club that spends that much money should be challenging in the top six and to hide behind a league cup win and a possible FA Cup win is a joke.

Roughly I make it that Everton spent £12m this year. £9m on Jelavic and 3 million or so on Gibson.
Last Season they only bought two players for small undisclosed fees.

Lets say they have spent £13 million in total (I could be a million off)

Liverpool have bought Andy Carrol for £35 million. Suarez for £22M Henderson for £20m, Adam for £9m Dowining for £20m

Thats a snapshot of their signings. Thats £106m compared to £13m in the same time scale. About 1/8th.

The even funnier thing is Liverpool made no winter signings and Everton signed Jelavic and Gibson. So BEFORE January the spending was £106M to £0(not including the nominal fees paid for Velios etc)

Every person that loves Liverpool wants the real domestic prize which is the Premier League. Even European success has not been enough to keep good managers their jobs. The reality is that even another summer of spending is very unlikely to see Liverpool have a squad that can challenge for a top 3 (assuming the current contenders keep their momemtum) - at best it will be a fight for 4th. If Dalglish manages to keep his job into the summer (which I think he will) he will need to be able to demonstrate much more discernment with signings and then a managerial ability to quickly get the most out of those players. If so then a season of consolidiation and CL qualification would give him another season after that but the PL title has to look realistic otherwise the man is doomed, sentiment or no sentiment.
