The club also remains thankful to chairman Tony Bloom, who has helped bankroll them.
In their last set of financial accounts, for the 2015/16 season, the South Coast club still lost £25.8m.
This season, Brighton paid an average wage of around £25,000 per week per player,although midfielder Dale Stephens has agreed a new £45,000-a-week deal to bring him level with star man, winger Anthony Knockaert.
The £5m promotion bonus is being paid to players on a points system, based on the number of games played.
Striker Glenn Murray, keeper David Stockdale and Knockaert all made 45 league appearances meaning they will bank around £300,000 each — less than a week’s wages to Zlatan.
For finishing in the top two, Hughton’s side will receive an extra £1,500 for each of their 28 wins, an extra £42,000.
Each of their nine draws is worth a further £500 a match.
Had Brighton finished in the bottom five, even avoiding relegation, the players would not have received a penny for any of their results in the league this season.
They landed just £500-a-man for their third-round FA Cup win over MK Dons and ended up with nothing else as they suffered a shock defeat to Lincoln in the fourth round.
In the EFL Cup, the team picked up respective bonuses of £150 and £200 for beating Colchester and Oxford but then lost in the third round to Reading.
Even the club’s youngsters are entitled to extra cash for their successes in the FA Youth Cup, although they will not be going out and buying any flash cars or booking fancy holidays.
They landed a £25 bonus for seeing off Derby 2-0 in the FA Youth Cup third round and a further £50 for defeating Cambridge by the same score in the next stage.
But they lost out on a £100 bonus in the fifth round as they were beaten by Stoke on penalties.
Anthony Knockaert's bonuses would barely pay Zlatan Ibrahimovic's weekly wages
In Under-21 or U-23 matches, the team earn £30 for a win and £10 for a draw.
The club will now look to agree a new bonus system with the players to cover next season in the top flight.
That is certain to include cash for achieving the unthinkable and winning the Premier League.
And there is already a system in place at the club should they appear in the Champions League or Europa League.
But regardless of what they negotiate, these sums of money will look like chicken feed compared to those trousered by the likes of Ibrahimovic at Old Trafford.
