Whether people think people are being thin skinned or not it was idiotic from someone in his position.

It is a dig at his SCCC mates (Nash? Wright?) who are now "Albion fans" with 1901 STs ...

Completely harmless banter. The only touchiness results from the grain of truth in the JCL/plastic accusations... we now UNDOUBTEDLY have something like 5-10K "fans" who would disappear as quickly as they arrived should we fall on harder times...

From my very reliable source I can confirm that this is a fake account. Mike doesn't have a twitter account.

He was at Battle CC on Saturday as part of the NatWest cricket aid to clubs, others were at Hailsham CC and Barcombe CC, and Sussex CCC tweeted to him on the same account name.

perhaps rather than delete the tweet and brief others to try to cover his tracks he could try apologising for his insulting "misjudgement" bearing in mind that even IF your maths is right it still leaves Albion considerably better supported than Mr Yardy's employers.

If that is his opinion why not let him express his views.

It's not going to make me support the Albion or Sussex any less regardless of a tweet from a player, his views are his own, they don't represent the club (SCCC).

Hasn't he got a point? You don't go from an average of 6000 to an average of 25000 overnight without picking up a load of prawn sandwich brigade and fans of other clubs.

I really don't know why people get so worked up by it - particularly as they are mainly the same people who will say that every single person who goes to The Amex is a Brighton fan and will ultimately look very silly if/when we start struggling a bit more and attendances do drop off.

Oh he's definitely entitled to. Just as Albion fans might feel entitled to think he's very silly to be snippy towards a large group of people, who might feel less well disposed towards Sussex CCC as a result (or who already pay his wages!). Which would make it a very silly thing to say IMHO.

No biggie but just a bit silly given his position.
