Worthing player on trial at Leicester

Does anyone know if we have even taken a look at this guy who's been right on our doorstep all season......

Worthing forward Mickey Demetriou has spent the week on trial with Leicester City.

The League One leaders have been impressed by Demetriou’s progress with the Rebels and also with the English Colleges side who he helped to the final of a competition in Italy.

Worthing are waiting to hear whether the 18-year-old, who has scored eight times this season, will be available for tomorrow’s game away to Dulwich Hamlet.

The Rebels will certainly be without injured skipper Ben Andrews but there is an outside chance Andy Alexander and Glen Woodburn could return to action.

Another defender, Matt Simpson, is available again.

Joint manager Danny Bloor has revealed he may dual-sign two or three players before the March 31 transfer deadline to give Worthing options for the run-in to the season.

Seems that we're happy to spend lots of cash for players that have to travel half the length of the country but not for anyone local. I wasn't too impressed when I saw him at Burgess Hill though - seemed a little lightweight (but he's only 17).

Your moan wouild have a lot more credibility if you said he was by far and away the best player on the park at Buggers Hole.

Good luck to him. I always like to see a non-league player getting a chance.

I said what I saw. I'm sure he's had much better games at other times and that's why he was chosen for the youth squad (and for the trial). I wasn't really moaning - just interested to know if he had been watched (and presumably rejected) by our scouts.

Mickey is a quality player. Only broke out of the youth team this season and has been immense at LM. Against Bugars Hole we did not play our best, however anyone who has seen him in games we've played good in will notice his class. Beautiful crosser and finisher of the ball, and against cray scored a free kick that would be worthy of goldenballs himself. Deserves to be playing league football, and we are happy he has got this break.

Not the first of our youth team to be picked up by league clubs. Tommy Fraser's brother James was signed by Brizzle rovers few years ago. However problem with both Mickey and Fraser was that neither were/are on cntract, therefore the club will be unlikely to make much if Mickey does move.

would like to think he'd be alowed to play with us for the rest of the season, as he will be vital in our quest to win ryman div 1 south.

Not the first time bigger teams have had a look at our players this season. Dover manager Hessenthaeler was a a game in January looking at one of our other wngers allegedly.

Good luck Mickey, and if you get the break, thank you for the quality you hae brought in the last 7 months

MICKEY DEMETRIOU, ENGLAND'S NO 10, ENGLAND'S NO 10, ENGLAND'S NO 10!!

Why not ask the Insider? Because otherwise this topic is ridiculous seeing as we don't actually, and will never, know if we've looked at him!

Update on this, Mickey was turned down by Leisceter. He was told that if they weren't getting promoted they'd sign him, and have now recommended him to Brighton, which means if its league 2 next season and they sign him, he could be starting as he is much better than the other left midfielders: good cross, great free kicks, and he can also play up front and has a beautiful finish.

Any relation to the Demetriou fella at O's?

Now he's a player I've always thought was good.
As for this Mickey kid he's gotta be worth theAlbion giving a trail to, can't do any harm.

What do you mean by that then?

For me it reads that Worthing have an excellent youth system and this lad is the proof, although the counter argument could be that he is one that was missed by ours...take it either way!
