So, just so I’m clear. Loyal fans have been buying multiple tickets to pass on to other loyal fans who weren’t able to get tickets themselves?

If this is the case then what’s the problem?

By “looking after your own” then surely nobody is going to miss out ?

I don't imagine there was intention to stockpile tickets. I assume that given it was a free-for-all, if you were a group of say four mates, you'd ALL have tried to get online and whoever was successful would secure the four tickets required. If by chance TWO of them were successful, then you've ended up with six spares.

A mate of mine lives very close to Woodside Road and goes regularly. I've been with him a couple of times. Both time our whole group just paid cash on the door. He's probably been to more than 10 home games this season, I've been twice in the last 2 seasons and about ten times in my whole life. There would, however, be absolutely no data to tell us apart.

I mean this thread alone you can see people who have been to one game, have got some, where as some who have been to 10 plus, haven't, lots of regulars missed out, more than could be sourced by friends, because hardly anyone who actually goes semi regularly got one.

If you were setting up some kind of membership scheme, solely for priority ticketing purposes (and not as a revenue stream) then there would be no need to charge anything like £30, either.

It could be just a tenner - low enough that anyone with a genuine interest would happily pay it, but enough that nobody disinterested (at the start of a season, before any BDO came along) would think to cough up.

You’re not wrong tbh, I was just looking at it as another revenue stream for the club although we probably aren’t talking huge amounts of money either way

It’s mental that some people are struggling to grasp it. It wasn’t that long ago that our ticketing scheme was a similar scrum for tickets.

Is it that hard to understand how people would have felt if they’d missed out on Swindon in the play-offs or Spurs in the FA Cup whilst some bloke who had been to Withdean once was taking his entire family?!

The tickets went on sale last night 20:00 they appeared to be sold out by 20:05 I couldn’t get any oh well hopefully get tickets for the Crawley playoff final same day same time

I completely understand that but Worthing were in a difficult spot because of the POTG issue. There's no obvious way to ensure the regular POTG fans get the priority they deserve.

big shame that seemingly a lot of regular fans have missed out. I wasn't able to get one but certainly wouldn't class myself in the category of a regular, having only been about 6 or 7 times this season- am disappointed to not get a ticket but I really feel for those more dedicated that I. Really hope the atmosphere doesn't suffer as a result

they need to learn a few lessons from this as IF they get promoted there will be some big fixtures next season

To be perfectly honest, Worthing have had no experience of dealing with this sort of demand and there is no surprise that they were caught out. I think with 2400 home tickets on sale when average attendances are around 1400 they (wrongly as it turned out) assumed everyone who normally goes will get one.

It is a shame for those regulars who missed out, but I'd lay off criticising the club too much when the levels of data they have on attendees is clearly limited due to the POTG nature of non-league football.

That said there is a lot they can learn for the future. I think the setting up of a membership scheme has merit, a push to increase online sales, if there is still a demand for analog sales possibly the establishment of a ticket office so that non-online purchasers can still be logged etc.

not true - they had over 2800 in the ground at the semi last week so they would obviously have known there was going to be a much greater demand than that (especially as its a bank holiday)

Spot on. I couldn't get them for Swindon but did for both Spurs FA Cup ones. When we played Man City at the Withdean, there were still tickets available on the day. It's just luck of the draw. The play off final tickets were all purchased at the Withdean if my memory serves me right. I'm gutted as I have been going to Worthing games 15 years when it doesn't cross with a Brighton game (STH) and couldn't get one for Monday.

I remember for the play off final in 2004 there was two separate queues, one at Withdean and one at the Queens Road ticket office. I did the Queens Road one which was HOURS. Don't think any were available online or over the phone.

My main memory from that is that I paid by CHEQUE. Really was a different world
