I was curious as to how this season's current bottom three compared to recent seasons at the same point in time.

I know Burnley have a game to play still, but it's still a pretty shoddy performance all round from those three clubs.

Slightly interesting to note that our six points would have us in the bottom three on only three of the past 11 seasons.

2020 - 6 - Sheff Utd 1 - Burnley 2 - West Brom - 3
2019 - 16 - Watford 3 - Norwich 6 - Everton 7
2018 - 7 - Cardiff 2 - Newcastle 3 - Huddersfield 3
2017 - 13 - Palace 3 - Bournemouth 4 - Leicester 6
2016 - 12 - Sunderland 2 - Swansea 4 - Stoke 6
2015 - 10 - Newcastle 3 - Sunderland 3 - Villa 4
2014 - 15 - QPR 4 - Burnley 4 - Newcastle 7
2013 - 11 - Sunderland 1 - Palace 3 - Norwich 7
2012 - 10 - QPR 3 - Reading 3 - Southampton 4
2011 - 16 - Blackburn 5 - Wigan 5 - Bolton 6
2010 - 18 - West Ham 6 - Liverpool 6 - Wolves 6

Is that assuming that you would have had a superior GD to the other teams who also had six points at this stage of the season?

a galaxy far far away
Goal difference is also far better, as it has been for the last few seasons.

Because we've been competitive in 90%+ of games no matter the opposition. Not many of the habitual bottom half teams can claim that

How many of these teams in the bottom 3 at this stage of the season went on to be relegated at the end of that season?

No, it's because we DO have a superior GD to the other teams who also had six points at this stage of the season.

Hope this helps.

So 15 out 30 teams were relegated.

Fun fact then - 50% of teams in the bottom 3 after 8 games are relegated.

I wonder what percentage of the other 50% came from the next three teams up the league?

Asking for a friend.

I'm obviously having a 'moment' but what does the number after the year represent? e.g. 2020 - 6

Respective runs of fixtures look tough all round:

Burnley:

So it could be a rosy looking Christmas if we manage to snaffle 4-6 points from our games:

I reckon this season it'll be Burnley and North-West Brom.

I have a feeling we are going to beat Liverpool.
If we get three points against them then suddenly 4-6 points looks very achievable with the other fixtures shown.i reckon we will get about 7-8 points from those fixtures if we beat Liverpool .
