We have a thread about the best so I thought that the alternative point of view was worth a shot.

I will start the ball rolling with Stoke, have been there 3 times now and seen 2 and a half games thanks to heavy traffic on the M6, cold god-forsaken wind swept ground in the middle of nothingness, vowed never to go back again after the second game, three is more than enough.

Luton away last year

it was cold, there was a kerfuffle on the train, it was freezing, so so unbelievably cold and snowy, mccammon and turienzo were upfront, we lost 3-0, played crap, mcghee said the game was unimportant, after id spent all that time and money getting up there

I remember going to Barnsley in an FA Cup match in the 80's, the weather was cold and miserable as we walked to the away end the ground was really muddy by the end of the match it was so cold the ground had then frozen ouside

Wolves away a couple of seasons ago.

We drew 1-1 but we didn't get to the match until half-time (Heavy traffic), missing both goals!

Word.
Magoo added another unsatisfied customer to his list of detractors.

That was a shocker..But one of those shockers that was strangely enjoyable...

I reckon that game started the downfall of McGhee

i didnt like mcghee before this game, but it was the final straw for me

it did mean we got to invent a great game on the back of "the velvet bag players v positions draw" every away game, we were never far off

i think we won 2 games on the trot before this, but i said he had turned us into a poor mans norway

One of the reasons I cut back on away days.

Being told by that fat ignorant PRICK that the sixty notes you just spunked out was 'unimportant' made me realise that there is far more IMPORTANT things to shell out the money on.

The legacy of Magoo lives on...

I can see how being told that spending money on getting to an away game, that had been lost and was considered unimportant, might rankle...compare and contrast that with the current manager thanking the supporters who went to Chesterfield on Saturday!

West ham away 1978/9 ish.

Spend all game fending off homicidal skinhead maniacs who wanted to kill all Brighton fans

It was the game Billy Bonds kicked Peter ward from one end of Upton park to the other so much so he had to be substituted....we drew 0-0 and I bought a west ham hat just to blend in

Stoke for me too. Horrible homicidal fans, very cold and we always lose when I go - last time I went to 2 1st half penalties which killed the game - we then had 4 hours in the car with the Silver hill warrior who drives at high speed whilst turning round to have a discussion with the back seat passengers

I would have said Cardiff because of horrible homicidal fans but we got a point last time I went.

From a homicidal fans point of view, 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane in the late 70s. (48,000 gate if memory serves well). Old 2nd Division.

I was there with some West Ham mates and got in two for one (plus tip) through one click of the turnstyle.

My oohs and ahhs were viewed with amusement by those around me. Brighton had a half the end and i cant recall seeing any trouble there at all!
