It's a two-way tie between Sami and Jimmy.

On balance I'd say Sami edges it. He had everything at his disposal and didn't deliver. Jimmy on the other had, whilst not very good, was working for a clown and trying to do a job in a poisonous environment.

Agree Case had little, Sami had it all. Just never forget him blanking the fans at Burton in the cup, thankfully he went of his own accord or I think we may have got relegated

Played 26, W6 D10 L10. Took us to the 4th round of the League cup. Hinsh lost 10 in a row, after 1 win and 1 draw.

But Hinsh had nothing to work with, he wasn't helped that Bobby got injured in his second or third game in charge but the fact remains his resources were certainly not the calibre that Sami had at his disposal.

Difficult to say who was the worst - by definition, a lot of our managers have been unsuccessful over the years. So, not including managers from the Withdean and Gillingham years on the grounds that they had their hands tied behind their backs anyway, my four nominations would be:
Clough, for the reasons stated by the OP;
Sami - play-offs to near relegation in 6 months;
Melia - an absolute clown; never mind the cup final, that squad was good enough to stay up, but Melia took them straight down;
George Curtis; just awful!

I want to say Adams but he got us promoted, despite how piss poor the second run was. And he was at least compensated that Russell Slade kept the team up.
Sami is clearly not cut out for managing but he at least secured some wins, and was replaced by Hughton not long after he made any longer lasting damage.

I'd have to say Clough, because he thought he was too good for Brighton and treated the club like dirt before he went off to Leeds. On top of that 0 wins and some crushing defeats

Think it's unfair on Hinsh, practically no notice, a squad that was in Division 3 18 months earlier against some massive clubs with no budget and resources.

They won the last 3rd of the match 2-1, shame about losing the first 2/3rds 6-0 :facepalm:

He also managed to get sent to the stands (escorted by the POLICE after refusing to go) and had a FRACAS with a fan.

Pints of whiskey, indeed.

Exactly.

All this talk of Sami reminds me of how well Oscar did with an average squad. Every team above us gave away points leaving Albion in contention and then sneaking in to the play-off semi-final that they didn't in all honesty deserve. I think it left a false impression of the strength of the squad and allowed Burke to make some horrid recruitment decisions. When you think of a midfield that only 2 years ago that included the likes of JFC, Crofts and Ince - then add Colunga and a reliance on the fading (but ever willing) Greer and Calde then that squad needed major investment. I can't lay all the blame at Hyypia's door because I don't know if he was promised things that weren't forthcoming but my greatest memory of him is him shuffling his feet, arms folded, at Wolves when we were actually giving one of our best performances of the season. He just didn't seem to interact with events on the pitch. I thought some of the football under Oscar was a boring as can be but Sami took it to another level. We were going down.

I only saw a couple of Sami's games (fortunately) but I'm surpised nobody's nominated Barry Lloyd.

OK he got us to the playoff final (where we didn't turn up) but he was a very poor manager. I have this on good authority from the writers for Gulls Eye.

And they were right.
