Will Anderson repay Botham's trust, he pushes forward to the googly and it flies between Chappell at slip and Smith in the gully, that's a welcome run. Botham plays out the next two balls and pushes a single. Anderson has two balls to face with six to win.

He pushes hesitantly forward and it's caught by Hayden at short leg, there's a loud appeal, was there bat on it - the fielders think so and so does umpire Dar. He's given out and doesn't review it.

Underwood's in with one ball to face - this is the moment of truth

I've seen the replay and the ball came off Anderson's glove, that's why he didn't review.

There are seven men around the bat for Underwood as he faces Warne. And he's beaten completely but misses the edge, he lives to fight on

England 267-9 (Botham 19 Underwood 0) overs 73 Six to win

Is Botham tempted to do this with one shot. He has a swing at Thomson and only just misses. He can do nothing with the next ball, that's an excellent yorker. Next ball is just back of a length and he pushes into the off - there's an easy single but he doesn't take it.

He does the next ball though, one to square leg. The field comes in for Underwood - four slips, a gully, a leg gully and a forward short leg. That's nasty it's quick and jags back at Underwood, it hits his pad but he had some bat on that.

One ball to go - Thomson has a word with his captain

There's another fielder brought in - a short mid wicket

Thomson bowls and it's brutal, Underwood throws his bat up and it hits's the shoulder and flies over Chappell at first slip. Underwood knew nothing about it but it's got him four and the scores are level

Botham and Underwood meet in the middle for a quick hug. Warne prepares to bowl with the field close in

He bowls, Botham plays the cut and misses - that was close.

He's in again, Botham's down the wicket but can't get to the pitch, he has to block.

He's down again and he's there this time - the ball sails over mid-on's head for four - England have won by one wicket

England 276-9 (Botham 24 Underwood 4)

What a match, Warne embraces Botham in the middle - those two played superbly at the end

The England team come on the pitch to shake hands - they've just taken a 2-1 lead in the series and Australia are left wondering what might have been

If I were Wally Hammond I would be having both Stokes and Prior into my Office for an Interview Without Coffee as they say in the Forces.

Both could have eased England home and neither did. punish:

And Mr Gower, not for the first time, could be joining them

Currently watching the 2015 Ashes series on Sky.... Smith is out but Warner has made a very quick fifty. Oh and Finn gets Clarke.

I MISS CRICKET SO MUCH.

It may be time for the selectors to have a meeting. I know people say that you should never change a winning team but they scraped through that one - if Australia had won the toss, they'd have won and England also got the better end of the decisions - the Aussies are still fuming about Smith's dismissal.

I'd say that Cook's position should be looked at (and possibly Gower and Compton's - though they've both scored centuries). We may also want to look at Barnes (England's best bowler in the first test) and wonder whether Underwood is the best bet for Old Trafford - it's a wicket that traditionally takes spin and England may want a spinner like Verity or Swann who really turns the ball.

Australia have called Border into their squad so will be choosing from twelve.

Me too.

We're just sorting out a schedule for nets, we may be starting up again in a couple of weeks but it's no substitute for the real thing

Yeah our club is doing the same. Tough times though, we're fundraising but looking at an £18k loss this year...... We're lucky to have the England captain as a benefactor or we'd be screwed.

Btw, the 2015 Trent Bridge test is about to start on Sky.

Been loving the build up, centering around Jimmy being injured and the massive boost that gives to the Australians......

We've won the toss and have chosen to bowl. Haha!!!
