Would be great to see our Engine Room in full speed ahead mode tomorrow.

Presuming Jimmy doesn't hang around Stokes and Botham vs. Lillee and Thomson should be one to remember for years.

End of Play Scorecard?

On my final worksite of the week (possibly year) have again blagged office & wifi access, so will be able to follow the match, hoorah!

Cloudless sky up here in Northants, got to be a good batting day I would have thought. Looking forward to Botham and Stokes together...

Should be a good day for batting if the weather is anything similar to here up North. It's glorious.

Fancy the Burnley Lara to have a crack (and be out after a couple of streaky fours).

It’s a lovely morning at Lord’s, it looks like there are a lot of runs in this wicket still. Stokes and Anderson are making their way to the crease. It’s Anderson to face and Lillee has the cherry, still quite new in his hand. Anderson plays gingerly forward and we’re under way. Anderson plays and misses at a couple before meeting the ball with a firm forward defensive, earning a huge roar from the crowd – he then balloons one behind square, but safely, and we’re under way.
Thomson to Anderson and the crowd are sensing blood. They nearly get it too as Thomson first ball nearly takes Anderson’s head off. He’s hit again and the Aussies bring another man in at a short mid-wicket, Anderson decides attack is the best form of defence and has a wild swipe – the ball goes a long way up and falls between Trumper and Hayden in a wide mid-on, they run two. And that’s an even wilder swing and goes high over Gilchrist’s head, it’s nearly six but bounces just inside – Thommo’s not happy.

321-5 (Stokes 5 Anderson 8) Overs 92

It’s Lillee to Stokes who plays sensibly and sees out a maiden. He’s looking for a single off the last ball but Lillee’s too sharp for him. And it’s round two of Thomson v Anderson. That’s a lovely looking shot, well it looks lovely, a firm push through mid-on, everything is right but the execution, it loops over Miller’s head in the covers and that’s two more – the amusement of the crowd. Thomson not amused though and gives the Burnley Lara a bit more chin music. But that is a genuine shot, a beautiful off-drive for four – Gower would have been pleased with that.
Ah, the fun’s over. Thomson bowls a fast in-swinger, it pitches up and strikes Anderson plumb in front –Stokes says don’t review that, but, in truth, it’s plumb enough to walk. Botham, going in ahead of Prior, strides to the crease – he looks like he’s in the mood.

327-6 Anderson lbw b Thomson 14

There are no fireworks from Stokes, however. He takes a single off Lillee and Botham takes one too.
Beefy’s not looking to take on Thomson just yet and it’s another maiden.
Stokes is now a bit more aggressive now and pushes the ball through mid-on for two – but that’s all as Lillee maintains a tight line.Thomson a bit looser though and Botham hits his first four as the ball strays down the leg-side, Botham pinches the strike with a single.
336-6 (Stokes 8 Botham 6, overs 98)

This is close – there’s a loud shout for lbw as Botham doesn’t move fully forward to a ball that continued down the slope. Aleem Dar turns it down but Lillee wants another look. Let’s see what DRS says

The ball’s good, there’s no bat, but the impact is just outside off-stump – only a fraction – and it was going on to hit, so Botham can breathe a sigh of relief.

He can’t relax though, he’s struck again! This looks a trifle high though and there’s no review this time. He tries to show some aggression but he doesn’t time it – it falls just in front of Thomson at long leg – that could have been a catch if Thomson was a bit more alert. That was a fine over from Lillee.
