I have thoroughly enjoyed the snooker throughout the tournament. I was hoping I'd get up there this year, without success. My son made the trip, after testing negative. And consenting to a further test a few days later and sharing the result with the organisers. And also checking in using the app, wearing the mask the whole time and sanitising his hands before and after leaving the theatre itself. The cleaning effort has been fantastic and hopefully will become the new standard.

The quality of snooker has been unquestionably high. Personally, I'm hoping the Jester wins it but the Magician is a fantastic player - so good to watch when he's flowing.

Great to hear a first hand experience, sounds like the set up is fantastic, a first class sanitised and sterile, covid safe environment for fans and players, let's hope this is what the future looks like across all sports as we welcome fans back.

I'm with you, the Jester will be a popular winner and cement his place in snooker history.

Why is he called The Jester?
I have watched some of the snooker and as yet I have not heard him crack a single joke, play a Lute or enter the arena with one of those multi pointed hats with bells on the end.
So what is all that about then?

Mark Selby in his younger years as a pool champion and early snooker career was known for his jovial personality, as he’s grown up he’s become more professional and but of course, the nickname will never change.

I like Selby, his all round game is probably the best ever, Ronnie is the most naturally talented ever, Hendry the best winning machine but Selby has the all round 8/10 game, he’s probably the snooker player you would build to win world championships.

Selby is from Leicester, I believe.

Personality in sport is always such a huge conversation. I remember watching Steve Davis every year bore the tears out of viewers with his style. He was a potter, but he also preferred to make the game hard for his opponent and make himself a very difficult opponent. I have no problem with that approach at all. I remember the awful Dott vs Ebden final of the better part of 20 years ago now, that wasn't good Snooker by any definition. But it's hard to argue that Selby is an incredible player. He has a will to win which is why he's still so competitive despite all he's won and earned financially. He pots some amazing balls, builds breaks of 50+ as good as anyone other than O'Sullivan and has a touch and feel around the table very few players can genuinely match. He might not be box office, but boring people are entitled to success as well. His dedication to his sport is incredible.

We all expect footballers to show the professionalism that Selby does. We all expect them to be students of the game and when you spend a huge percentage of your life doing one thing you become an expert but naturally have to sacrifice something else. Maybe Selby lacks for personality a little bit but he's an incredible Snooker player and he has my admiration.

Why don’t they have shot time limits in all snooker?
Being ridiculously slow to grind down an opponent shouldn’t be a legitimate tactic.
90 seconds is ample. Selby did double that the other night.

He's been absolutely incredible, a worthy champion and one of the all time greats. The covid secure full house at the Crucible are lapping it up.

I think it was the right final, both were fantastic throughout the tournament but Selby was by far and away the best player. Beating Mark Williams with a session to spare was incredible.

Good tournament . Murphy has balls Of steel but didn’t have quite enough. No one was beating Selby over the fortnight.

He was unplayable, best matchplay ever, I don't think anyone beats him when he's in the form and mood, a joy to watch.
