World Cup Play-Offs: Should There Be Seeding?

UEFA have seeded the teams in the play-offs. If you're in the play-offs it should be a free-for-all, surely?
Seeded teams:
France
Russia
Portugal
Greece

Unseeded teams:
Ukraine
Republic of Ireland
Bosnia-Hercegovina
Slovenia

The draw will be made at 1300 BST in Zurich with the two legs to be played on 14 November and 18 November.

They didn't change the rules, they just hadn't decided what they were going to be. Bad but no so bad as changing their mind.

I wonder what England fans would have been more happy with should we had finished 2nd. If the objective is to get the best teams from Europe into the WC then this looks like the best way to do it.

I think it is outrageous to have not decided this ages ago. Surely this should be sorted at the outset not wait until you see who is in it and then find a way to seed them favourably. Shocking. I hope Ireland get Portugal and turn them over.

Why are Uefa clueless in respect of this situation? I thought it had nothing to do with them as it is a Fifa competition!!!!!!

As for the seedings, can't understand why everyone is so pissed off. It always was going to be seeded it's just that the seedings were going to be decided by the latest Fifa ranking on the 16th October.

Why is this causing a fuss?

The qualifying groups are seeded and the World Cup Groups next year will also include seeding so why not the play-offs.

I don't agree with seeding, I also don't agree with changing the rules mid-competition. FIFA have done both.
