Apologies if this has already been started elsewhere but I couldn't see anything. So where is everyone putting their money for the World Cup??

I've gone for a pony on David Villa top goalscorer/Brazil double @ 33/1.

A pony on Van Persie top goalscorer each way @ 16/1.

A pony on Mexico, Argentina, England, Serbia, Holland, Brazil, Spain, Italy group winners @ 14/1.

Sydney .
Treble , all to Qualify .
South Korea (B) , U.S.A. (C) & New Zealand (F) .
Over 100/1 on Betfair (108.8 when I backed it a few days ago).

South Korea & New Zealand are weak teams
but both have a couple of pretty average opponents
in their respective groups . I don't think dominating possesion
will be necessarily be enough to win matches , scoring on the break against a run of play
might well be the way a lot of games are decided .

In fact South Korea at 9/4 to beat Greece
in one of the opening matches looks THE bet of the tournament .
Also like ;
Serbia @ 5/4 to beat Ghana
France @ 4/5 to beat South Africa
U.S.A @ 11/8 to beat Slovenia

Good luck & good punting everyone .

Bloody hell. I haven't got anything on (yet) but looking on betfair you can back Spain to win the tournament at 5.1 and Brazil at 5.9. I'm seriously tempted to whack a tenner on each of those.

And rivalling that South Korea - Greece bet, what about Ghana at 11/4 to beat Serbia?

Back England to win after we draw with the USA.

You may mock now, but I'll be bouncing this when we do. :lolol:

I have RVP @ 20/1
A 480/1 shot on picking all 16 qualifiers.

And an 8-fold on the 8 group winners, like you. The odds you have got are SHOCKING for that though. I have gone for all 8 favourites, and got 30/1. Yours is definitely not right. Should be at least 70/1

Bloody hell, got 14's here.
He was 33/1 last week, shows how well backed he must have been at those odds.

He was 33/1 on the coupon I used, but in the two days between it being printed, and me getting my bets on, he came in to 20/1. Judging by this thread EVERYONE has backed RVP, and the bookies could get CANED if he does it!

I also have Gilardino at 50/1

OH, and my wife has picked Lampard E/W [top 4] @ 66/1, in the hope he gets a few pens.

Yep, everyone i know has backed RVP as well, so will be interesting if he can pull it off.
I picked Lampard e/w on the same principle, he was superb for Chelsea this year, and if he can get a pen or two he's half way there. Looking at Wikipedia, it appears usually 3 or 4 goals is enough to get top 4 in the golden boot, hence why Forlan tempted me as well, think Uruguay will win that group!

South Africa to finish without any points - 9/1.

Definitely the weakest ever World Cup host nation.

France, Mexico and Uruguay should all have way too much for them.

That's Coral's I presume, I went in there yesterday to have a bit on RVP at 33's but the bloke behind the counter said no he has gone down to 20's, didn't seem such an attractive bet then, however I took it. In hindsight, though it looks like it was a good bet for him, seeing what others have got.
