Warsteiner for me. Don't see it in enough pubs for my liking.

Please, please - as a favour to yourself - whereever you see this sign in Germany this summer:

konig_pilsener.jpg

...drink, drink, drink, drink, then drink it again. Unless you're in Cologne, in which case the local speciality, Koelsch, is mighty fine and an unusual brew which the locals swear by. Makes you piss a lot though.

And if anyone ever finds anywhere in the UK that serves or sells Koenig, please let me know - my car's rear axle is groaning from bringing it back from Germany. You get it mainly in the Rhineland. Ludicrously nice stuff.

Germany still has lots of regional breweries so what you'll be drinking in one place won't be what you're drinking in another.

And if you get to Dortmund, there's dozens of breweries.

This bad boy piece of legislation:

...means you don't get fruit beers like in Belgium, but gives German beers the clearest and cleanest beer taste in the world.

GOTT IN HIMMEL I finished my last can of Koenig watching the game last night. Why does no-one sell that stuff here?
