Just acknowledging Julio Enciso winning the Ballon d'Or in 2029. Got their fingers on football's pulse, these FIFA lads.In 1930, Paraguay didn't play in the first game and they finished bottom and went out in the group stages. What special moment of theirs are FIFA claiming to be marking 100 years later by involving them in this?
That's a good point, well made. My first reaction was that the only way Scotland is ever going to go to a World Cup again is to concoct a hosting bid with San Marino and the Faroe Isles but actually... taking Spain & Portugal out of the European qualifying pool probably brings our odds in to something like 50/1.The six automatic qualifiers isn't really as mad as it sounds, given that 5 of them would almost 100% certainly have qualified by merit anyway.
Only Paraguay would have struggled, most likely.
Maybe a Paraguayan won goal of the season on MOTD in 1930In 1930, Paraguay didn't play in the first game and they finished bottom and went out in the group stages. What special moment of theirs are FIFA claiming to be marking 100 years later by involving them in this?
and I'm so boring I'm even against pre season tours to the US (for example) and warm weather training...I mean...why??...train in the weather we play in?!?!?International football is dying.
And the world is too.
To be fair it will probably be a 128 team tournament by then.Six automatic qualifiers is ridiculous.
Exactly. That’s the surely real agenda behind 2030. Get Europe & South America out of the way to clear a path to all that Saudi cash. Also, only Asia and Oceania able to bid for World Cup 2034.
Saudi Arabia 2034, it is then.
So we have the hands of god on our side this time !I'm waiting for it to be the Vatican in a few years. Pope in goal for us of course!
I agree, but the Morocco - Algeria border has been closed for some yearsNo, I very much doubt they could. Partly because FIFA demand so much and make it cost so much. It's a shame that they couldn't team up with a neighbouring country. I think a north african world cup would be something really special.
