Walked past on Saturday and although the doors were open, you could probably put the stock in a couple of cardboard boxes.

I wonder what will happen to our Brighton ones.

I can see the one nearby my work in Brixton become a poundland..

Ironic really. As that was Wooleys philosophy when it started.

I was told recently that the Western Road site is becoming a H & M store (apparently they were in there measuring up and even removing bricks from the walls as a part of a survey a couple of weeks before Woolies went into administration)

London Road site might be changing into an Iceland

I hear the Hove (closing on the 27th) one may also be changing to an Iceland.

Closes here on the 2nd January, although the other two within 5 miles close before that date.

Looks like it's going to become a new bigger Primark, so therefore I will have Saturdays all to myself while the missus is busy working

Seeing as the Government is now bailing out the car industry in Jaguar and Landrover, yes it does seeem wierd which companies the Government deem worth saving and those that can disappear into history.

With Woolies, it's not just their staff that are losing their jobs, there are also reps, suppliers etc affected too, but i guess everyone already see retail staff as the lowest of the low, and the car industry as gods so no surprise really

Wouldn't do the economy, the environment or individual householders any harm whatsoever IMHO if the country switched overnight to, say, the Maltese or Cuban way, whereby funky old vehicles are kept in perfect running order for twenty or thirty or forty years. Who really NEEDS a new car?

Yep finding out your now unemployed at xmas is quite serious to those that have been sacked

So what would you be more upset up about; the fact you'd have lost hundreds of thousands of pounds in savings or the fact that you couldn't pop down the high street and get some pick and mix?

Woolworths is a national institution and yes it will be sad to see it go from the high street but you can hardly compare it's inability to move with the times to the Government's bail out of the banking industry.
