Won't we get some notice of the ODPM's decision?

I'm sure last year we knew in advance the day that the decision was being handed down - might not have been long notice, but surely the ODPM will alert everyone that the post is on the way, even if it's only the day before.

I would think the chances that we will wake up one morning and the decision is suddenly announced with no notice are slim. We will get a good source on here telling us the decision is imminent and, frankly, I don't know if these tales of some police officer knowing something about tomorrow really count as the right kind of source.

Won't the usual media outlets be given advance releases? They will have to get their spiel prepared, etc, so I would assume that cosying up to the football reporting desk could be a good move - for those that work in the media!

New Labour seem to leak everythnig else before it's officially announced, so would be surprised if they don't on this. How often do you hear on the radio in mornings that x, Minister for something, will be giving a speech later today, in which such and such will be announced.

It certainly seemed to be leaked on here a day or so before because NSC was in meltdown!
The fact that the earlier "decision" was imminent was known.

The content - and what it meant - was not.

Which is how the Southern Counties Radio newsdesk came to announce the decision, incorrectly, as "NIMBYs celebrate, as Prescott turns down Falmer".

Part of the reason NSC was in meltdown was that this was a better source of accurate information than our friendly neighbourhood local radio station in Guildford.
