They'll be fine, even if their two main stars leave. Their relationship with Mendes will mean they'll pick up 4 or 5 top class players for way below their true value anyway. I think they're just a bit tired to be honest.

Talksport presenters talk utter bollocks, Anyone who saw the game would say Seville were fantastic, are 18 games unbeaten and have every chance of beating Utd and winning the EL. Wolves were well beaten but very few teams would beat Seville in that form the only surprise was it took them so long to score.

Wolves will finish somewhere near where they finished this season and if they bought well could challenge the top 4. What did surprise me in a points per pound spent table I saw was that their wage bill was nearly £10m less than ours...

I haven't seen anyone suggest them as an outsider for relegation?!

Excellent manager, too many good players and a fluid system that's worked brilliantly for three years or so. The only reason they'd be in trouble is if Nuno and a load of the players left.

This. Shame they didn't get through in Europe. They could beat United on their day.

Only the thread starter thinks there's a chance Wolves will be fighting relegation. Ridiculous and daft.

Lot of Wolves STH round my way - many think they are now part of the Top-6 club.
I have to banter back that they are Portugal-A and would be ordinary if they kept within FFP.
Nuno has definitely created a team of mates [Portuguese chums] so if he went I think they might crumble.
Yes, the board has got lots of dosh to invest, so whatever happens, can't see them being anywhere near the bottom six next year!

Edit: Ah, of course they will be bottom six in the table alphabetically before a ball is kicked - my bad!

Actually I don't. However, I can see them dropping four or five positions in the league. Maybe read the thread before calling anybody ridiculous or daft.

I agree they won't be anywhere near the bottom six next year. However if they were to drop to 11th or 12th a few more players could leave then within the space of 3 seasons it could all go badly wrong. There is also the possibility they will only get better, I just find the whole setup there very interesting.

I think the chap on Talksport said that he can see their manager going, and a number of their key players and therefore they should be considered relegation candidates.

I listened and thought 'no shit mate'. Any* team that lost their manager and key players just before a new season is going to be struggling to maintain their previous form.

*Except Leeds. Bielsa has set the up so well, top to bottom, that he doesn't even need to be there anymore, his influence ripples through time

I don't really listen to talksport so missed the whole discussion. Just had an interesting conversation with one of my pals who said a similar thing. For the record I don't think they will be anywhere near the relegation zone at all but at the same time I can see how they could fade a fair bit next season.

A few people have them down as outsiders to get relegated next season. Personally can't see it however I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped to the bottom half of the table. Teams have been figuring their system out recently, they have played a lot of games and it's not long until the season starts. The midfield were completely dominated by Seville the other night and they don't have the strength in depth some of the teams around them do hence why they have all played so many minutes.

They don't seem to have the most sustainable system and other clubs will undoubtedly be interested in their top players and possibly their manager. Most of their players have completely bottled an FA Cup semi final and worked so hard to get to a Europa League quarter final only to be knocked out by a side that didn't really get out of second gear and players heads could drop.

I like wolves but I think they won't be the same animal next season but also can't see them being in a relegation battle although Leeds went from champions league to relegated in only a few seasons and it wasn't too long ago Swansea were in Europe.

Also, not many people would have looked at the Bournemouth and Watford squads and tipped them for the drop, so perhaps it's not that crazy.

Morning Nuno Espírito Santo or Nameless
Cannot see your team being relegated :)

My Villa supporting relative fully expects them to once again become Midlands top dogs next season, says they are cheats and will lose at least a couple of players plus Dean Smith has supposedly been given a 200m warchest to bring in 5 or 6 top players.

I have a lot of time for Wolves and enjoy watching them.

They're at that stage where two 7th place finishes and two decent cup runs have got the big boys looking on. The test is whether they can hang on to their stars, or replace them with players that are at least as good. I don't see any reason why they won't be challenging for a top six place in 2020/21.

Guaranteed top 4 this season.

Couldn’t give a shit about Wolves and certainly don’t wish any good fortune on a PL rival. Some people.

That potentially brings in it's own problems though with financial fair play. All it takes is one of the wheels to fall off and the whole thing could crash. I would be a little cautious having somebody like Jorges Mendes basically running the club if him and the owners ever have a major disagreement that whole ship could sink. When it comes to the football admitting it's unlikely but it's not unreasonable to think that they could struggle next season and not do as well as they have done the past two seasons. It is also not unreasonable to think they could do even better next season.

So Mendes and the owners may or may not fall out. Wolves may struggle next season, but then again, they might do even better.

Shrewd analysis. Do you write for The Athletic ?

You are ridiculous and daft, as is anyone else who thinks Wolves will be anywhere near the bottom 6 next season. I hope I've cleared things up for you, despite you in-depth and intelligent pseudo analysis.
