The return fixture tomorrow then.
I'm surprised McCarthy hasn't already approached the FAPL to have the game annulled and the points sent straight to Old Trafford, being as its obviously a write-off for the Old Gold. After all, they've got Burnley next week to prepare for, which is a far more crucial game for them in the scheme of things.

With the fixture apparently having to be fulfilled though, I suppose it'll be another case of Mick putting out the kids and the ressies, taking the medicine, getting the game out of the way and carrying on from there.

Maybe at the start of the season Mick should allocate points to whichever teams he feels he can't beat.

Or he could be a professional and get on with it like Burnley did, nicking a point from Arsenal on the SAME DAY, thus proving whatever point Mick was trying to make wrong.

Wolves drew with Liverpool at Molineux a month or so ago. I recon that they will fancy themselves for a point, their defence seems to be strong with Craddock and Berra making a strong centre-back pairing. Wolves only problem is their ability to score, they can't buy a goal at the moment. In spite of the fact that Doyle is in the form of his life, he can't get the ball from the midfielders, run half the length of the pitch and score all by himself.

I go to a fair few Wolves games, but won't be there tommorrow. More important things to do, you see.

The stiffs should play against Man Utd, thereby keeping the first team fresh for the match against the winners of the mouthwatering Lyme Regis/Petherton encounter.

I wouldn't be surpised if Mick gives it a miss to be honest.
He'll probably be in the stands at Arsenal, checking on Burnley.

There's already talk of him leaving Rooney out, he's knackered after 2 games on that stodgy Wembley pitch.

I wonder what action the FA will take if Man Utd field a lesser side with the Champions league in mind?

If Man Utd fielded a lesser side they are still being "competitive". If Wolves play their reserves, they are not. That's the difference.

It makes a big difference that Wolves are home.

At Old Trafford, they have virtually no chance of getting anything with Uniteds record of Won 12, Drew 1, Lost 1.

Away from home is a different story..
Won 7, Drew 2, Lost 5.

So on that basis, United only win half of their away matches.

Man U got beat at home by some third division junk this season, so its hardly mission impossible.

It's completely accurate though. It is a world of difference United resting a FEW players (not all ELEVEN) and STILL trying to WIN the game, compared to McCarthy CHEATING and throwing the game to give himself an advantage of completely fresh players for the next.

One of the rules (rightly or wrongly is not the point) of the Premier league is that teams need to be "competitive". AGAIN the fact that Burnley got a point against Arsenal on the same day shows that Wolves were being spineless.

Seeing as you are now allowed to field SEVEN subs he was only actually 'resting' 4 players from the first team, which makes it bullshit.

Chappers, the starting lineup was a joke that night, and an insult to the fans who'd gone to the time and expense of travelling to the game.

Oh I thought it ridiculous at the time and I can see the point being made. However, now you can name 18 players in a first team squad for a match I don't see how this kind of rotation could even nearly be punished.

He made eleven changes. He cheated and threw the game. Let's not pretend it was anything other than what it was.

I DON'T agree with him being fined by the FA, but it was still a poor show of sportsmanship from McCarthy.

.

Harsh.

If United made eleven chages against a full strength Wolves side away would they be regarded the same way, even though United chould field a 'competitive' side. What if Wolves had got a draw?

I think you are being well harsh.

Stop being so harsh.

Regardless of the 7 subs, the starting lineup must be something resembling the strongest team you can put out though, surely. I mean McCarthy made ELEVEN changes to the starting lineup from the team that won at Spurs the previous weekend.

How you'd go about punishing it I dunno though.
