Must be the best result of the night. How many years has it been since Walsall got the chance to play their Black Country neighbours? When was the last time they played in front of 22,000? Probably the only time in their lifetime that Walsall fans will have local bragging rights. Fantastic.

Well they got relegated from the Championship around 2005, so my guess would be then?

Good result for Millwall too, beat Blackpool 3-1.

Orient also doing very well under Russell Slade, won 5-1 last night making it 7 wins out of 7 this season

Surely 22k is actually quite a low crowd? There must've been, what, 5k from Walsall so Wolves' crowds must be going down the pan. As to the last time they played in front of that many, im gonna guess when they last played Sheffield United.

Very Pleased for Russell Slade. I would love to see him and Orient in the championship.

It is a small crowd, and it is a big crowd. Let me explain.

Wolves were getting stonking crowds in their last two seasons in the championship before they got promoted to the Premier League. The season they came 7th in the Championship, their crowds started to increase because Wolves were actually winning. The following season Wolves won the Championship - during the second half of that season, almost every match seemed to sell out.

Wolves got sell out crowds for most of their first season in the Premier League, however the numbers started falling during Wolves second season in the top flight. There is perhaps a lesson for Brighton to learn here - the Premier League on its own does not sustain large crowds. When Wolves were losing almost every week, the numbers dropped.

Anyway, over the last couple of seasons the numbers have dropped again as Wolves enjoyed two successive relegation. From anecdotal evidence, numbers have picked up this season. Mostly because Wolves are playing good football again.

Anyway, back to my point, 22,000 would have been a poor crowd 4/5 years ago, but is a fairly large crowd based on numbers from the last year or so.

True. Those old enough to remember will recall our crowds in Div 1 in early 80s were less than when we were storming through Divs 2 & 3 and Wardy was in his pomp.

Tweet from Glenn Hughes (Rainbow / Black Country Communion) to Steve Morgan (Wolves CEO ) "I will pay David Davis' full salary so that he never again wears a WWFC shirt.....cash upfront...." now there's a true supporter !!

Indeed, the way the Brighton support just melted away once we failed to steamroller the opposition most weeks was quite sad. But as has been pointed out we're no better or worse that anyone else in this respect. Fans like to see a winning team. End of story. From an attendance point of view the division is irrelevant; better to do well in the Championship than struggle in the Prem.

Mind you with 'attendance' figures now being based on tickets sold and given the huge percentage of STHs at the Amex compared to the Goldstone we probably won't see the same fluctuation in support numbers.

True, however we may well see STH numbers fluctuate year on year
