It may well look like that, but non league fans like nothing better than big gates to watch their team - their grounds are rarely sold out, so would be delighted with the extra support. My Grandad was heavily involved at board level at Havant & Waterlooville who operate a discount for Portsmouth ST holders and have done for many years and always see bigger crowds at home when Portsmouth were away – more food sales, more people in the bar, more people cheering the team on. I don't think a single H&W fan had an issue with the policy and they gained new fans because of it.
They no longer do, but it was nice gesture at the time, one I certainly took advantage of. I am however more than happy to pay the full whack now.

That’s incredible attendances for tier 6. I would say 10 years ago only 1 or 2 sides in that league would average over 1000, with most 500 or less.
Maybe it is about price for some but its hard to tell if the increased crowds for non league football are at the expense of PL / EFL or a reaction to pricing. . The league crowds have - post Covid - returned at historically high levels as well (and of course - plenty of fans go to league AND non league football. Lots of Brighton fans go to Worthing/ Lewes etc)
I think the overall quality of the experience has gone up tbh. Covered terraces, decent bars and food, I think clubs that have made a real effort with their facilities have seen that paid back with numbers. I also think there has been an improvement to the quality of football; national league is now pretty much all full time, and tier 6 clubs are being much more professional as a result.
