withdean is growing on me!

Now the stadium is all but dismantled i find going there for athletics is giving me a connection to the arena that i didn't feel while we were there!A bit like the rose tinted specs that people use for goldstone memories! I keep scanning the stadium for memories and get to walk the unkept pitch twice a week. thanks withdean old friend, now i can see what you meant to us!:moo:

yeah has to be said I walked past it the morning of the first game at the AMEX , the fact that only a few pieces are left made me feel abit , most my Albion supporting life was there so I can't knock it , and although it was drab , it left me soaked to the skin so,so many times and it was a massive laughing stock amongst other football fans it did bring some good times :)

Withdean - the student flat. It will live long in the memory, many a good time, but which you couldn't wait to get out of into nicer digs at the time.

I DO miss being home 5 minutes after the games finished and not dealing with pissing transport it has to be said.

Yep, good old Withers, l always have, still do, and always will love the place. Yes totally unsuited to League Football, and the scene of many a soaking, but still the the ground where we secured four promotions during our tenure there.

A place of great history too, do many people realise it started off life as Brighton Zoo before the last war?.

Did anyone else read the sign on the first pic as 'Physio The Rapist'? No, just me then.

This. Quarter of an hour walk for me, and then an easy drive. And I miss the beer garden of the Brewery Tap. Standing up in a concourse for an hour isn't the same, even if it is the WSU. We could do with a few more decent pubs near the Amex. Still, would I go back to my student accommodation? No, I don't think so.

Very true. Club needs to work with the uni to build one on the edge of the campus.

In my own strange world
Bitter sweet memories of the old place, but, time moves on and now the Ugly duckling that was once Brighton and Hove Albion has grown into a beautiful Swan and the most exciting time I have ever experienced in 40 Years of supporting the Mighty Seagulls:bhasign:

Withdean has a remarkable history including being a zoo and hosting Davis Cup tennis!
