Wise In Talks With Leeds

Dunno, there were lots of behind the scenes problems at Swindon emerging with the money basically running out for the kind of spending Wise wanted.

This parting of the ways has probably come at the right time for both parties if Swindon can get a decent pile from Leeds.

£420k for Wise, Poyet and Beasley apparently.

Swindon wanted Leeds to give them compensation based on the contracts they were conveniently about to offer the three of them but Bates told them to swivel, Swindon said fine you can't talk to our staff any more, Wise and Poyet said we'll quit then, Swindon pushed into a corner and they ended up with that for all three.

I heard something on the radio over here that Bates ruined an Irish bank in the 70's Nick Leeson stylee. It was the first I'd heard of it.

Not relevent to the thread I know but thought someone might know more.

The Irish Trust Bank. It was wound up in about 1976 leaving lots of people a lot out of pocket.
