Morning - Anyone got any ideas on how to stop Windows Condensating ? My double glazing gets very damp this time of the year. Do trickle vents work or is it best to spend loads on a dehumidifier ?

In light of recent events thought I should clarify that this has nothing to do with licking, this happens every winter as it gets colder. Not trying to start another thread just to get banned

The problem is made worse the more of these you have.

1. People in the house
2. Baths or showers
3. Clothes drying
4. Cooking
5. Candles burning

Warm air can hold more moisture than cold air. Hence the warm in the house fills with quite a bit of moisture.

When this warm air hits the double glazing glass or frame it cools and can no longer hold the same amount of moisture so it condenses.

Best approaches

1. If you are generating lots of moisture in one room (kitchen/bathroom) then open a window to let it out straight away.
2. Trickle vents work quite well - they allow release of warm air much like opening a very small window.
3. Dehumidifiers are very good, but are expensive to run as they are generally around 0.5KW and are on most of the day and night.

Good luck.

Why? Does it make it taste better. :p

I saw this picture in the condensation on my car window a couple of mornings ago.
It went after I put the air conditioning on

correct, so the obvious answer is to reduce or remove all of the above from your home.

1. Don't live in your house
2. Don't wash
3. Walk around naked
4. Get takeaways
5. Use electricity

or

6. Take the glass out.

Have you tried turning the heating off and then restarting if that doesn't work try reloading the windows?
