Are you a British subject or an Irish subject - if you have dual-nationality I think you need two wills (or maybe the same one registered in both countries) - but for goodness sake don't die intestate with dual nationality - could start a war if you're rich.

Oh shit that's a can of worms, I have dual nationality. I'd better check it out. The local solicitors here do a will for free and you just make a donation to a charity of your choice (the local pub probably). I'm not rich but I do have a wife and kids and the bitch aint getting a penny , only joking love

Made mine as soon as I became a home owner. It's really important to do if you're not legally married to your partner (as I am), otherwise he/she could be left high and dry.

Of course.

As soon as our oldest child was born both my wife and I made wills. We have one in this country covering all things in England, one in Ireland for all things in Ireland and another for the home in Turkey and Florida on foreign land.

We have just had to update them fairly recently because some of the things have changed and of course had to take Anastasias name from it. My brother in law is a solicitor and he did it all for us.

Have to admit that I have never bothered, no marriage/partner or children to worry about so I never saw the point. The point made above about becoming a home owner is a good one as that asset hides wealth, far better to decide now where you want the proceeds to go rather than have your relatives fighting over it before the burners at the crem have had a chance to cool down.

Besides, how else will people know that I want to be despatched to the cheery tones of "GOSBTS", and that all the mourners must be wearing something blue and white.

Not being picky but surely you should find out the sex of your partner prior to writing them into your will.

If you ask a serious question you will generally get serious replies, on everything from computers, wills, cars, finding a plumber/electrician and stopping cats from crapping in your garden. There are years of experience and knowledge on NSC just waiting to be tapped into.

Haven't got one although will be making one over the next couple of months, especially finding out the company I work for have life insurance for all of us. Think everyone should have one, after the hassle of probate etc, we had when my dad died for the time it takes it really should be done. Just remember to make sure that you dish the dosh equally (including furniture, tv's etc) unfortunately everything is taxable, and if you break the threshold, which with todays proerty prices is very easy to do, you will be pating for it. Think it's disgusting, you pay tax on your wages, then tax on what you spend your wages on, then they want to tax iot again when you die
