Will we get a Heatwave?

With all this lovely snow, and global warming. Will our summer be a heatwave just like Australia is now?

45oC dry heat isn't so bad as long as there's no northerly wind with it.

Well, the El Nino Seasonal Oscillation (ENSO) affects our weather. We are apprently entering a La Nina phase (with a cool central Pacific), and this does have the effect of cooling Global Temperatures, and possibly giving us crap summers.

Last summer was during a strong La Nina period, and that one was abysmal.

This one is less intense (forecast to be), so maybe we'll get an OK summer.

I'd go for nothing special... but that's only based upon this 1 factor.

After all, we may also be entering a solar mimimum (some say as low as one of the previous Grand Minima, such as the little ice age), so that's another possible downward forcing on temperature.
