We won 1-0 at Wolves on September 22 1981 with an Andy Ritchie goal, which put us fifth in the table.

True, but that was only after six games so arguably too early to count?

All depends on whether another striker comes in Jan imo.

Not sure about that. If Maupay keeps on scoring – and learns to put away sitters – and some of the midfield chips in, then we don't need another striker. Certainly not in January when they are more often than not an overpriced gamble.

Weaker than last season? I don't think so!

Apart from White, whose departure was always part of the plan anyway, we moved on players we didn't need any more - the likes of Propper and Ryan - and got in Cucu, Mwepu, Sarmiento breaking through, Lamptey fit again, and young players like Moder and Mac Allister learning and maturing all the time.

I'm with you.

Some very odd posts on this thread

Still, I have put money on us being relegated and winning the FA cup. Bound to fail on both as I've never won a bet. I can live with that.

I voted No. I think we'll end up 14th or 15th purely down to our lack of finishing.

On a positive note I do not think for one minute we'll be relegated - which is a statement I can make with a nice big smile as I'm typing it!

The mid table seems to be tighter than previously and it doesn’t take much to go up or down several places. I’d like to think we can end up with a better points haul than last season which keeps us away from relegation issues, gives us a chance of ending somewhere between 9th and 14th and allows us to give some of the youngsters some game time before the end of the season.

Yes - we're a good little team, that play lovely football.

I would go as far as saying we're one striker away from 8th.

We can talk about performance and quality of players but the truth is that we do not win games of football. It is nearly three months now since we last won. I am not optimistic of that changing until Welbeck is back and playing regularly.

Regrettably I therefore voted no.

Yes. For the third season in a row we've had a pretty unimpressive run of games without a win. This year though we've drawn a few and should be well positioned to come out the other side.
