I really should be old enough to know better but I make it 55-45 in England's favour (the percentage chance of winning, not the final score - what a game that would be!). Germany's defence is susceptible enough that we could get 2 or 3 goals. They've had some real stinkers. Sadly, we know they have a habit of pulling out a big performance when they need it in tournaments but this might just be a step too far. Low should probably have gone a few months ago.

We should beat them but we won't. I don't think we've ever won a knock out game in the Euros (Spain 96 was a draw and penalty win, we've never won one). Why will Tuesday be any different?

We have everything in our favour. Home draw, Good players, poor German team and an easier easing into the tournament. We will still contrive to lose.

Probably beat them with a quite unexpected stunningly good performance, then lose abjectly to a much lower-ranked team in the next round.

Yes - that's my thoughts as well. We'll play well, get really over-hyped up - and then not put in the same sort of performance for the next game.

To what purpose?

Is this really what NSC has been reduced to? Somewhere else on page 1 there's an actual prediction competition thread where people are doing their very best to predict results to win the competition. Some of it an educated guess - HT and final score - some of it pure luck (VAR goals and minutes of first goal). No one is bouncing that and mocking the first round losers.

And yet here we are with a simple four part poll that we can then bounce to presumably make the win "less sweet" for those who said we'd lose (even though not much takes the edge off a win over Germany) or make it even worse for the optimists if we don't.

:down::wave:

I think we're either going to blow Germany away or put in one of those classic abject Euro performance that has been our general stock in trade since as far back as i can remember(88).

Is there? It looks like being a very tight match either way, so doesn’t look like anyone’s going to end up with egg on their face really - opinion is split almost down the middle.

Beating Germany would be the best thing we’ve done in years.

For me it’s a better achievement than getting to a semi-final of the World Cup. We just can’t beat big sides at major tournaments.

But who knows. We probably won’t. Which would be a shame.

Think England will play well but ultimately the Germans will just die enough to get through . Hopefully I’m wrong .

England will take the lead. Southgate will shit his pants, go ultra defensive and Fritz will do a job on them.

England couldnt have hand picked a better draw

Germany at home followed by the winner of Sweden v Ukraine and then the winner of Denmark V Czech at home.

As this is England we will beat Germany and then spend a few days taking about how we will stroll to the final only to be knocked out by Sweden

I’m going for England winning 3 nil.

First goal at the beginning of the second half followed by 2 more in the last 5 minutes as Germany throw everyone one up and we get 2 on the break.

That is an unbelievable draw Good news. However does look unfair while Spain,France and Belgium knocking each other out. Why isnt last 16 a free draw

The dull part of the south coast
A few song lyrics/titles to sum it up :

The Song Remains The Same

It’s The Same Old Song

The Winner Takes It All

Same As It Ever Was

Oh sod it! We’ll probably win with a controversial VAR decided goal in the 94th minute. :drink:
